New thread. :)

OP posts:
Bogeyface · 26/07/2013 00:01

I dont know why more people dont find out sooner who is coming and then work out what they can with their money! We said that if anyone said a definite "no" then they may not be able to be squeezed in, but a "maybe" would just need a confirmation 6 weeks ahead. It meant that instead of going for a buffet based on full numbers attending, we could have a full sit down with wine etc for the 70% or so of our list that could actually come.

Maybe I should Patent an "Invitation with details to follow" card!

ImagineJL · 26/07/2013 00:01

Out of curiosity, how long ago did the STD cards arrive, and when did you know you weren't invited? As well as the obvious rudeness, it's astoundingly selfish to make people block a weekend in August for a wedding to which they are then not invited. People plan and book summer holidays months in advance. I'd be livid if I'd kept a certain date free, only to learn that I hadn't needed to.

Angelico · 26/07/2013 00:11

I am fairly confident the loon will reply so marking spot :o

WhiteBirdBlueSky · 26/07/2013 00:18

Maybe she's googling 'save the date card etiquette, and cringing'.

Bogeyface · 26/07/2013 00:18

Yep, she will reply utterly nonplussed at the offence she has caused!

justmyview · 26/07/2013 00:23

Now that this thread is (probably) winding down, let me tell you that there are some bat shit crazy ladies over on confetti website. Good for a giggle if you're not getting enough wedding madness on here

forums.confetti.co.uk/rant-f40

HMG83 · 26/07/2013 00:35

Can't wait for the reply!

Bogeyface · 26/07/2013 00:36

What I love about those forums (which I did use when I got married for the bargains on the For Sale bits!) are all the threads about "sacking" bridesmaids.

Ermmmm....do they not know that being a BM is a voluntary thing and that you dont actually employ that person?! I miss "Bridezillas" best TV show in the world imo!

prettybird · 26/07/2013 01:13

Have only just come across this thread. Wow. Just wow. Shock. My gast is well and truly flabbered at her brass neck.

However, having only skimmed the beginning and end of the thread(s), am I the only one who keeps on thinking Sexually Transmitted Disease when I read about the STD? GrinBlush

northlight · 26/07/2013 01:19

Isn't there some kind of legal thing that all weddings have to be open to the public so that objections can be voiced at the impediments part of the service.

GoodMorningMoon · 26/07/2013 04:48

Took a look at the confetti forums. Sooo much pink....so...much...

How much would yoi be willing to bet that these, erm, ladies, have been the subjects of countless MN AIBU threads?

IceNoSlice · 26/07/2013 04:55

prettybird me too on STD!

Re Confetti. I didn't do the Internet forum thing when I got married 7 years ago. I really hope I wasn't as self centred as those women. Crikey! I just read a thread about children at weddings. Wow. Felt like joining to ask about babes in arms but couldn't be arsed. I know there are lots of POVs on this subject from the threads on here, but those women are all 'me, me, me'!

GoodMorningMoon · 26/07/2013 05:12

I would hope that I wouldn't know anyone so Bridezilla-esque IRL. However, I'd assume most everyone hopes so until they receive...

THE SAVE THE DATE CARD Shock

Thumbwitch · 26/07/2013 05:51

Excellent response Tidy. I hope she sends you another reply, pref with an apology!

I for one do NOT feel sorry for the bridezilla at all. If she valued Tidy's friendship that much, then this would never have happened because Tidy would have been invited to the wedding.

kalidanger · 26/07/2013 06:38
FruOla · 26/07/2013 07:07

Perhaps boxes of STD cards should have a printed warning on them, you know, like cigarettes?

Friendship Warning. STD cards only to be sent to definite guests. Failure to follow up with an official invitation will severely damage your friendship.

Grin
Moetlovermuvver · 26/07/2013 07:16

Great reply. I'm just leaving my Brew here. Back soon. [Grin]

hermioneweasley · 26/07/2013 07:28

Disappointingly, I doubt Bridezilla will reply to the excellent, mature and dignified response. What could she possibly say?

Hope I'm wrong though!

HorryIsUpduffed · 26/07/2013 07:45

"Oh no, I hadn't thought of it like that. I'm so sorry!" would probably do it.

If she hasn't got Zillaitis and has just not realised, that will be her response.

meganorks · 26/07/2013 07:48

Was going to mention the wedding forums. Getting married next year so have been looking recently. While we are all loitering around AIBU moaning about all things wedding related and how rude brides are, they are gleefully giving out the opposite advice over there. Lots of lols and hun and encouraging bridezilla behaviour.

However even they recognise that STD cards are for guests only, and what's more only for full day guests. Would be rude to tell someone to save the date just for the evening apparently - tell that to this bride!

pigletmania · 26/07/2013 07:51

Really if 'friend' wanted tidy to help, decorate her venue, the least she could have done is invite her to the reception, to enjoy it with the guests. So what was in it for tidy eh! So tidy would love the bride so much tat she should want to be treated like rubbish by this friend

EagleRiderDirk · 26/07/2013 07:53

Grin at fru warning and horry zillaitis

StanleyLambchop · 26/07/2013 07:59

That Confetti website is awful. What is the point of posting on there? The only other people on their are Bridezillas themselves so it is lots of back slapping 'do it your way Hun' type comments. No bride can do wrong, guests are all a pain in the arse and bridesmaids are to be got rid of if they do not sacrifice every hour of everyday to involving themselves in the wedding. So much self obsession! I reckon if you register and then start giving a contrary view they probably just ban you! Go there at your peril!

pigletmania · 26/07/2013 08:09

I saw it stanley, it was just so funny, all this hunning, and back slapping

MadameGazelleIsMyMum · 26/07/2013 08:17

Well done OP. Will be interested to see what gluezilla has to say in response.
