Watched the first episode with OH. It was amazing, but I very nearly shat myself with fear. It made me jumpy for the rest of the night. I don't want to watch the rest. OH says I should woman up and it's only telly and not real, but I'm scaaaared.

It's not just me, is it? That was some scary shit.

I'd be more scared of a partner who said woman up to be frank
Simple answer don't watch Luther if it scares you ,you'll suffer no adverse effects
I watched all episodes and enjoyed.i didn't think it was that scary

Bringmewineandcake · 24/07/2013 22:53

The scary music makes it worse....when you know something is going to happen, switch the sound off, the scary images are not as bad then.

Also, episode 2 not as bad as episode 1.

scottishmummy · 24/07/2013 22:56

I like Luther,it's atmospheric,slightly formulaic but I don't find it scary

wigglesrock · 24/07/2013 23:02

The rest of the episodes weren't scary.

Stinkyminkymoo · 24/07/2013 23:03

Do you have to have watched series 1&2? I really want to watch it but haven't watched either?

PoppyWearer · 24/07/2013 23:05

I love Luther, but had to turn off the first episode of the latest series, as DH was away on a business trip and I'm a bit twitchy when he's away anyway.

Haven't plucked up the courage to watch it yet. Blush

BIWI · 24/07/2013 23:06

The rest of it wasn't as scary.

scottishmummy · 24/07/2013 23:06

No pretty much stand alone
A character returns but you're not disadvantaged not knowing backstory

TeddyPickleStick · 24/07/2013 23:10

It's not scary but it is bloody ludicrous now. First two series were good - this series stretched the boundaries of believability too far

TeddyPickleStick · 24/07/2013 23:12

It is beneficial to watch the previous series to fully understand his relationship with Alice and what err ' haunts' him

NicknameIncomplete · 25/07/2013 09:01

It took me a good few weeks to watch the first episode because everyone kept saying that it was scary.

I watched it alone in the house & i was a bit cautious that night. I havent given it a single thought since.

The other episodes arent as bad.

I love Luther but dont find it scary at all.

Feenie · 25/07/2013 09:45

I watched the first episode and it made me cross. Was yelling at the telly at that silly woman who hid in the wardrobe, fgs what a daft thing to do!

Have enjoyed the rest though Grin

aibu to think luther should have waited til the paedophile stopped struggling n finished hanging before nicking the vigilante killer ( at the risk of sounding like a sicko myself?) Blush

BIWI · 26/07/2013 09:46

The whole point of him rescuing the guy trying to hang himself is that Luther is a man of integrity. The running theme of this series was the team investigating Luther, trying to prove that he didn't play by the rules. If he had allowed the man to kill himself he would have played right into their hands.

honey86 · 26/07/2013 11:09

that is very true. well put Smile
