But the shops are now full of autumn/winter stuff.

Any ideas?

Not for me, for DD2 (15, impossibly picky)

I also missed the memo about buying all summer clothes before the end of June, I really struggled to get DD a tankini, some shops had no kids swimwear at all in the second week of July.

HorryIsUpduffed · 24/07/2013 17:57

I gave up looking and cut off some jeans. I am wearing them now, in fact. I have had lots of compliments on them, and have spotted a lot of the young trendy girls wearing labia-length denim shorts so they can't be vastly unfashionable.

MurderOfGoths · 24/07/2013 17:59

This drives me mad, especially as it's taken so long for the summer to actually rear it's head, it finally warms up and all the shops remove the shorts and summery dresses and put out jumpers!

AtYourCervix · 24/07/2013 17:59

She doesn't want denim (too thick and rough). Nor too short.

Wtf is this all about? Seriously. In May I wanted some long sleeve tshirts for the kids and there were none to be seen. Now its July, middle of the summer, hot and we need new tshirts and theres nothing but long sleeve tops.

What the shit is this about.

Every year.

Autumn winter clothing in JULY.

Dontletthemgetyoudown · 24/07/2013 18:00

New look? Hollister usually do shorts all year round. Good sales in bank and Republic.

LeoTheLateBloomer · 24/07/2013 18:02

I saw some in Dorothy Perkins the other day and I bought some nice ones for myself in Fat Face.

arabesque · 24/07/2013 18:03

Are you mad??

Everyone knows you buy your swimsuits and shorts in February, your Back to School stuff in late June, your Winter coats and wellies in July and your Christmas presents and wrapping paper in September. This leaves January free for Easter eggs and then we're back to swimsuits and shorts again.

farewellfigure · 24/07/2013 18:03

Going on a last minute holiday in 2 weeks. Not a pair of shorts or cut-offs to be had. V depressing. No ideas... sorry.

HorryIsUpduffed · 24/07/2013 18:04

Charity shops? Pitch it as "vintage"?

Darkesteyes · 24/07/2013 18:05

Feeling your pain I went looking round the shops for pastic flip flops last Friday. Could i find any? Could i fuck.
I finally settled on a pair of those wicker type flip flops which dont last as long if they keep getting wet.

pictish · 24/07/2013 18:06

What abaresque said.

It's madness!

HorryIsUpduffed · 24/07/2013 18:12

I know we hate Primark but it is full of summer essentials such as cotton vests and t-shirts in various sleeve/neck options, shorts, skirts, flip flops, sandals, beach shoes, etc.

RedHelenB · 24/07/2013 18:27

IN Meadowhell today & loads of summer gear around ( along with Christmas cards in Card Factory)so YABU.

I REALLY struggled when I tried to buy some last week. I've lost 6 stone since last summer so nothing I had then fits me. I was excited about the prospect of being able to walk into any shop and buy some shorts and of didn't do it earlier as a) I'm still losing weight so wanted to wait as long as I could, and b) the weather wasn't nice enough to wear shorts.

Problem is that there are hardly ANY shorts in the shops now and the few that are left as the REALLY short ones. I know I look better in shorts than I did this time last year, but I don't look THAT good to want short shorts. I want ones that come just above the knee. Found ONE pair (denim ones in M&S) and that was it. :(

Zzzzmarchhare · 24/07/2013 21:19

I got a lecture of a John Lewis sales-person on Monday telling me I needed to buy a season ahead and that she was getting winter boots in now. She couldn't grasp my point that you can't buy a toddler shoes a season ahead as I don't know what size he will be!

AlfalfaMum · 24/07/2013 22:15

YANBU.
This is the first summer in ages that I've actually needed to wear summer clothes, might have been a total waste to buy shorts 3 months ago!

I do have a little gem for you: I got a pair of navy chinos (which I thought I'd ruined with a blob of bleach on the knee) taken up into shorts. They come about 3 inches below the crotch and are the most perfect shorts ever.
So, if you've got a pair of trousers or jeans that fit nicely but have a rip or stain, get them turned into shorts.

AlfalfaMum · 24/07/2013 22:18

Sorry, I only just read the bit about them being for our dd Blush

AlfalfaMum · 24/07/2013 22:19

your dd! Jesus!
