To be glad it's finally raining

Honestly I am so glad it's finally started raining here in the NW of England!

Don't get me wrong the sun has been nice in some ways (though far to hot for me a lot of the time as I'm very fair skinned and pregnant) but we've had 3 weeks of it!

We're not on mains water as we live in the sticks so we have well water which has been decreasing and was on the verge of running out if we didn't get rain this week. We've been super careful with it but it obviously doesn't last forever.

The poor plants are parched even though they had some water from our stored rainwater. Plus all of the surrounding fields were parched and the poor animals (none of which are mine) were so fed up.

So for purely selfish reasons I'm glad to see some rain Smile

Anyone else or am I alone?

I love the rain yanbu. Ask me later in the week and I might give you a different answer though!

I am also glad, except we are going on holiday next week and everyday according to the forecast is going to rian, there is nothing to do when it rains Sad

I'm glad but I'm also fair skinned and pregnant.

The garden needs it, I have been sweltering in this heat. I do feel a sorry for the kids parents as it is now school hols.

Latara · 23/07/2013 10:09

It's not raining here (down South west) but i'd like a bit of rain at night only so I don't have to water the garden. Not during the day though, it's nice to have warm sunny weather at last so YABU for rain in the daytime.

My grass needed some rain. It can go back to sun again now Grin

Yeah!
BUT, the humidity is worse not better and not freshened the air up at all Sad.
Had to wait till 9.15 for the sky to clear to take little dog out, and it soon began to drizzle, but didn't mind as it wasn't cold . But the humidity was suffocating. Sun still hazily shining.

In London here and still waiting for some (daytime) rain, am really looking forward to it though! Garden is looking forward to it too. Having said that I am off on holiday on the south coast next week so it needs to stop by then...

ANormalOne · 23/07/2013 10:27

North-West here too, I hope it rains for the rest of summer now. I seriously hate the heat.

TylerHopkins · 23/07/2013 10:28

The heavens opened near me this morning and woke me up at around 6.30am. It was beautiful to watch the rain pounding down. I don't think I've ever seen it like that before. The storm was scary though, had to hide under my sheets!

PumpkinPie2013 · 23/07/2013 10:36

I do feel sorry for parents with children who have just finished school as it must be hard/expensive entertaining them when it's raining. Also anyone going away - we go to the lakes in 3 weeks and also wouldn't want rain all day every day.

Hmm I think a balance of nice (but slightly less hot?) Weather during the day and rain at night is needed! Smile

I was so happy to see some rain this morning but it has stopped and the sun's back out. I was scared of falling into into one of the craters that have appeared in my lawn - well perhaps a slight exaggeration Smile

OfCourseOfCourse · 23/07/2013 12:45

You might be near me Tyler Big thunderstorm about 6:30 and then another one about 9:30.

I didn't get to hide under the sheets though because our cat was really distressed. I was lying on the living room floor trying to stroke her while she hid under the sofa!
