To spend £1.20 for a standard bar of chocolate?

I couldn't resist it's called a BabyRuth from the USA it's got, nougat, caramel and peanuts in it, it sounds lovely. I'm saving it for tonight, but was it unreasonable to pay that much for a bar of chocolate?

The first time I went to the USA I bought a Hershey Bar to see what all the fuss was about.

It was the single most revolting confectionery I have ever tried to eat, and possibly also the only one that I didn't finish and threw in a bin.

So, if all US "chocolate" is like that YABVU.

No, not if it's nice. Our local sweet shop has imported US 'hard candy' in interesting-looking flavours and I'd give them a go if I thought they were good, but the price is frightening and I need external verification before I can commit £2 to that kind of venture.
Anyone an expert in this area?

I've tried a Hershey bar, they are like a sugar overload, gross and i love chocolate.

Sounds to me like you've already got £1.20 worth of enjoyment out of it. So in some ways, the chocolate bar is actually free! Enjoy it!

Green + blacks is more than that and I buy it all the time. So yanbu.

American chocolate is grim though. Except peanut butter M&M's .

I recently paid a ridiculous amount for a very small packet of mint M&M's from USA. I love mint choc and couldn't resist. They were lovely, but the imported sweets are SO expensive! As long as its yummy yanbu though Grin

Hershey bars taste like sick.

£1.20 got me two Yorkies and a packet of Smarties at the Tesco petrol station yesterday.

A friend of mine bought some Hershey bars for her new American DIL, thinking she'd be thrilled, but the DIL had acquired a serious Godiva habit since arriving in Europe and wasn't nearly as chuffed as might have been expected.

Undertheboredwalk- I've had some American friends bring me big bags of mint M&Ms over as I love them! They're amazing but so expensive to buy from a specialist shop!!

Hershey bars are just disgusting. DD bought me one when she visited New York, and the entire thing (minus the first small bite) went straight into the bin... Sad

i disliek a lot of american chocolate and food.

though their mac and cheese hamburger helper ready meals are yummy.

lucky charms, the orginal not the chocolate.

cookie dough balls covered with chocolate.

hard sweets.. what are they called.. jolly. rodgers? they are quite yummy.

and fluff.. i luuurrvvv fluff but not at £5 a jar lol

Sounds horrible to me... I'm a DairyMilk eater!

If you like peanuts then I expect it may be ok, though some American choc is horrible.

Sometimes I treat myself to choc from Hotel Chocolate, so no YANBU to buy chocolate that costs quite a lot, if you fancy it.

Don't buy Butterfinger, it will pull all of your teeth out!

I really don't like American chocolate including Baby Ruths...

Although, if I was desperate, a Baby Ruth was the best of a bad bunch.

(pretzel M&Ms are ok too)

Jolly ranchers are very good

And do google ' this charming candy ' as I think they deliver to the UK and they are DELICIOUS

I went into a sweet store which of full of American sweets and chocolate. I saw bacon flavoured paste in a tube for buns and lollies bacon and chocolate flavoured Shock

Australian sweets rock! Cherry Ripe and Violet Crumble are divine. I fancy Musk Sticks and Redskins but haven't managed to try them yet.
