Dog Poo

AIBU to ask people who walk their dogs near my hone to clear up after their dogs? It is a recurring problem where I live and it's getting worse. I cannot stand on my balcony in this hot weather without someone's dog having a shit in the grass nearby! When I mention to the owners that they should clear it up I get verbally abused. So, what do I do?... Oh and I've reported it to my council, and they have done jack shit about it!

OP posts:

£1000 fine if they're caught, ask the council for some warning signs & offer the culprits cheapo nappy sacks or carrier bags to shame them into it ! (works for me)

We have this problem near me, neighbour & I were tutting about it just an hour ago......get a stick & flick it into the hedge or street gutter FFS if you're too prissy to pick it up!!!

josephinebruce · 21/07/2013 22:11

Another dog hating thread.
How tedious.

babyhmummy01 · 21/07/2013 22:12

Take pics and report to the dog wardens. There are normally bylaws that should force them to clean up or be fined.

I always clean up after my dog however grim it is. To the point I was digging around in over a foot of snow trying to get it all and a lady commended me for doing it as she had slipped on the ice and landed in a pile some scrubber had left behind. There is no excuse! Dog poop bags can be bought in pound shops, supermarkets etc or buy cheap nappy bags!

Abra1d · 21/07/2013 22:12

Can we do the same to cat owners? I was helping my mother in her garden, came inside and realised I have cat poo all over my new sandals. Not their cat--a neighbours. I had to spend ages scraping it off and it stinks.

Babybeesmama · 21/07/2013 22:12

I'd write to council again, someone on our street complained & they sprayed no fouling signs on the pavement which have helped on our road. It is truly disgusting on other roads tho - I hate it so much! And it's really not good when there are kids around. Some dog owners are clearly just lazy, if you know who they are bag up the poop and take it back to them Wink

toomuch2young · 21/07/2013 22:14

Oh god not again.
Everyone agrees people should pick the shit up.

Some idiots don't. Making another post on here will not change these idiots. It just makes half the board hate dogs more and the other half hate you more for making people hate dogs more!

Enough of the dog shit please!!

LadyBeagleEyes · 21/07/2013 22:14

Just how many more dog threads are there going to be. I swear this is the hundredth thread this weekend.
Bored now.

MalcolmTuckersMum · 21/07/2013 22:16

Very original OP. Really - did you have to think hard to come up with this much under-discussed subject?

MissMarplesBloomers · 21/07/2013 22:16

Josephine I work with & have dogs, its not the dogs I ahte its the irresponsible owners!

toomuch thre is a lot of it about!

LookMaw · 21/07/2013 22:16

Could you take a picture of the offender if you're on your balcony?

I managed to pick up my dogs poop at 8 months pregnant with incredibly painful SPD. If I've forgotten a bag I have literally stood by it until another dog walker comes past ad asked them. There are no excuses and it really boils my loss when scummy people give the rest of us a bad name!

LookMaw · 21/07/2013 22:17

My loss?

My piss obviously!

SarahStrattonIsBackForJustABit · 21/07/2013 22:23

Really? Another bloody dog thread? Really?

babyhmummy01 · 21/07/2013 22:24

lookmaw that's me now, 8 months preg, spd and sciatica and look like a tit trying to get down and back up again.

MalcolmTuckersMum · 21/07/2013 22:25

OP is a funny one - only been here tonight but already bumped a zombie thread and started this one. One doesn't want to think ill of people, obviously, but one does wonder if there's just a hint of goadyness about it all...........

coffeeinbed · 21/07/2013 22:27

Shall we suggest a "All dogs are evil" topic so all 896 675 dog and dog owner hating threads can all go there in an orderly fashion?
and I can hide it

LookMaw · 21/07/2013 22:33

Ah babyh as long as you don't fall into it, consider your day a success! Grin

SarahStrattonIsBackForJustABit · 21/07/2013 22:34

I'll second that idea, coffee

babyhmummy01 · 21/07/2013 22:35

So far the only minor fail was dropping the bag whilst trying to tie it up and managing to grab the poop not the bag in my determination not to have to try and bend down again. Bloody good job I had a bottle of water and antibac gel in my bag

Lonelybunny · 21/07/2013 23:04

We have this problem all over the pavements on the way to my daughters school, all the kids tread in it , it's disgusting , the council need to be out early when dog walkers are about and actually fine people which they never seek to do! Yanbu

Babybeesmama · 22/07/2013 14:20

Not really a dog hating thread - more of a dog shit hating thread! I like dogs. But not what comes out of their butts when it's on my shoe/pram/child's shoe! Confused

sicily1921 · 22/07/2013 16:35

YANBU!! to Joesephine and Coffee are we to assume that you love love love dog poo, you don't mind steppin' in it and therefore treading it in your house?

How do you equate OPs thread "I wish people would clean up their dog's poo" to "I hate dogs"? THEY ARE NOT THE SAME THING. Confused

Read the damn title and thread.

coffeeinbed · 22/07/2013 16:43

Of course I don't love love love dog poo. No one does. Get real.

I said "dog and dog owner hating threads.
Read the damn post.

GrimmaTheNome · 22/07/2013 16:48

what I really hate is when I pick up after my dog and in the process step in another dog's shit. Urgh.

Its a no-brainer - we all dislike irresponsible dog owners, don't we?

The park nearest us has lots of signs, hefty fines, lots of bins and reasonably regularly park ranger walking round, and its got a lot better.

OneStepCloser · 22/07/2013 17:05

Has anyone actually ever come on a thread and said I dont pick up after my dog when they poo on the pavement?

MoominsYonisAreScary · 22/07/2013 17:15

We've just moved and I've never seen so much dog poo as I do now on the way to school. It pisses me off as I'm constantly telling ds3 2.4 to watch the dog poo. Trying to avoid it with the pushchair and toddler is a pita
