to be disappointed that that wasn't in fact my last ever period

or should I be rejoicing that I am still (possibly) fertile?

Menstrual cycle all over the place and periods from hell for 3 years. I really thought that not having had a period for a couple of months meant that it was over! But it's back with avengeance.

Been eating Burgen bread, seeds, tofu and soya yoghurt regularly to minimise menopause side-effects but am now thinking that it's just delaying the inevitable.

I just want it over with!

no you don't. no periods for 18 months so mine are definitely gone. since then - aching joints, lethargy, brain ache trying to remember simple things, still have the mood swings and before period headache. hair thinning a bit now too and skin a lot less elastic. don't wish yourself into the menopause.

mummy I have aching joints too, easily irritated and brain-fog already - does it get worse?

I have to say I love my menopause. I take evening primrose oil, sage and glucosamine and I have never felt better. I'm glad to see the back of periods and mood swings. I never have to carry spare knickers and tampons just in case. I can swim any day I like. I can wear white trousers. I will never again feel bloated, get spots or have greasy hair.

Brilliant!

Went a year, then had three in 7 weeks :(

Last one January the 7th.

Oh Joy woke up this morning to (TMI) dark brown sludge :((((((

Enough already 47 years of bloody periods!

No periods-FANTASTIC!!!

Mine stopped for a year & then I had oneHmm & now nothing for nearly three years!

I don't have to wash my hair everyday, or worry about leaking or that people knowBlush

OP I'm 53 and had a period 3 weeks ago.I seem to have been perimenopausal for about 7 years now. I know that feeling of wishing each one is the last one only too well.
Looking on the bright side, apparently a late menopause is an indication of a longer life, so I might get a royal telegram (not sure who will be king by then!)

BeHind, are you me? I had no period since March. Was thinking I had jumped off tampon train for good, until this Monday past. I am having a right good bleed, where previous two periods were sort of short manky business.
Also doing evening primrose and a vitamin supplement called Estroven.

Secretswitch · 21/07/2013 17:30

Ohh FFS! BeKIND even! My apologies Op.

BeKindToYourKnees · 21/07/2013 20:41

Thanks all for responding, great to hear its not just me struggling!

Am so fed up with not knowing when the next deluge will start - I am constantly worrying about being 'caught short' at work (think pale gray boardroom chairs) but I really don't want to wear sanitary products 24/7
