drinking wine....or needing it!

I've never enjoyed alcohol (except awful teen cider in the park days) and have been teetotal the entire 6 years DH2B and I have been together.

However the past month, which had coincided with working ALOT and it generally catching up with me- I have suddenly been appreciating a glass of wine at the end of the day when dc are in bed. I am concerned about forming a habit - ive never understood needing a drink to relax. ..now I do! Let's face it. Alcohol isn't good for you and if I've managed so long without it....but I really appreciate it now. It's never more than one glass (since im obviously a complete lightweight)

Is this a reasonable thing to do? Im not gonna turn into an alchy am I lol

Are you normally this anxious about stuff that isn't going to happen?

HollyBerryBush · 21/07/2013 09:17

You are equating volume of alcohol with alcoholism. it is the 'need' for alcohol that makes you an alcoholic - so do you 'need' it or just 'like' it?

FWIW, I have merrily chucked a bottle of red wine down my throat a night for the past 30 years, and I've not had a drink for 6 weeks (no reason, just dont fancy it) and I'm not clawing at the walls either, dont even think about it.

I think you are pretty safe with one glass a night. But why do you need it to relax?

Hmm

Why after 30 years..?

Malcolmtuckersmum ...yes I probably am lol

I like the warm fuzzy feeling I get and it makes me sleepy. .....some nights im so stressed I just cannot nod off for my mind ticking over!

Don't need it...but very much like a glass on an evening...

not trying to drip feed, but I have at times been concerned over my mothers drinking (a bottle a night- I think that's alot imo!) And realising how easy a habit it is to take up iyswim
