to wear jeans to the office?

It's allowed and the dress code is fairly casual at work (admin) but I can't help but feel lazy by wearing jeans.
Doesn't stop me, I'll blame it on my lack of wardrobe, but am curious to see if others think that jeans to work is unreasonable? And what do/would you wear?

not in this weather!!! shorts maybe😄

If the dress code allows it then why not? I'm guessing you have no contact with the public for such a relaxed dress code? Not sure why you'd want to in this heat though!

My office is smart casual but dress down on Fridays. We don't have face to face contact with public. But the odd one always turns up to hand us something and its always on a flipping Friday when we're all scruffy! Fwiw we never encourage people to turn up, just the odd l

The odd local who doesn't trust the post!

I often wear black jeans to work - in an architect's office so occasionally seeing clients.

Unless we have a meeting with outside members then no face-to-face contact, thank god. We get enough grief over the phone!

I'm expecting someone to come on here and say that I should dress for the job I want. If this was the case then i'd come in my PJs Grin

YANBU, I wear jeans at work but it's linens all the way in this weather! If you can, why not?

EBearhug · 19/07/2013 22:02

Depends on the office, I think. I have worn them on Fridays, but it still doesn't quite feel right. One of my colleagues wears them daily. We work in IT and we're not customer-facing at all. We do occasionally get told that someone important will be over, so we're expected to be a bit more formal. But most of the time, I suspect no one even notices.

I mostly wear trousers and t-shirt or top, to the point that I get comments when I wear a dress/skirt. Well, I did - I've been wearing skirts a lot with the current weather.

ShadowMeltingInTheSun · 19/07/2013 22:02

If it's allowed by the dress code then it's reasonable.

Dress code in my office only allows jeans on Fridays (dress down day), and then only if the jeans are dark. Plenty of staff turn up in jeans on a Friday.

I'd love to be able to wear jeans (or shorts in this weather) at work but we have a smart dress code that forbids it :(

I wear jeans to work sometimes but it's a relaxed office. Depends what the rules are where you work.
