To not expect to have to rescue my curtains from the garden?

My friend's boyfriend is a decorator and has been wallpapering and putting up new curtain rods and curtains while we've been on holiday.

Got back a few days ago to find the new curtains up - lovely - but that he's taken down the old rods and curtains and tossed them in a heap in the back garden, with the rest of the tip-destined rubbish.

We hadn't discussed whether or not I wanted to keep the old ones but surely you'd err on the side of caution? They are not manky or even particularly hideous/old. And even if I didn't want them, you'd presume they'd go to charity or something, wouldn't you? Or maybe not?

I haven't said anything, not sure if I'm being weird, or uber-thrifty or something?

(I have rescued the curtains. And an old towel that I gave him to mop up radiator spill - seems he thought that should go in the bin too!)

AIBU/weird?

I really can't understand why you didn't take them down for him? I would have without a doubt.

I mean...putting up curtains isn't a decorator's job really...it's an interior decorator's! I think that in having a tradesman deal with your soft furnishings you made a mistake.
