What are your thoughts on bringing a 8 yr girl to Bon Jovi concert, she was at Glee concert (more kid oriented) when she was 6 and enjoyed it. Have u brought your child to a similar concert venue?

OP posts:
HeySoulSister · 18/07/2013 18:34

is it seated?

HairyGrotter · 18/07/2013 18:35

I wouldn't subject my child to such shit Wink

500internalerror · 18/07/2013 18:35

I would, if the child actually likes whoever they are going to see!!

TidyDancer · 18/07/2013 18:36

Absolutely fine. But take ear defenders for her.

Have taken both my DCs to a Bon Jovi gig before and have always seen younger children than them there. The youngest I saw there this year was a breastfed 4-ish month old baby. :)

The worst language you will hear on stage is the odd "shit". JBJ is not really a swearer.

Go for it and have fun. :)

JellyMould · 18/07/2013 18:37

I went to a bon jovi concert 2 years ago, I should think an 8 year old would be fine so l

JellyMould · 18/07/2013 18:37

Sent too soon - as long as its seated.

Leeds2 · 18/07/2013 18:38

And make sure she knows/likes the songs!

GobblersKnob · 18/07/2013 18:40

The last time I went to see them nine? years ago there were loads of children and much younger than eight.

As long as you don't take her moshing at the front she will be fine, standing or seated. If you are standing though it is useful if you or someone else can her her on your shoulders most of the time, or it's not much of a view Grin

TidyDancer · 18/07/2013 18:40

The seating issue wouldn't concern me at all. It's usually better to be able to walk around with young DCs at events like that.

KittyVonCatsworth · 18/07/2013 18:41

Took my DD to her first festival at 4. She's a proper music and gig goer now. She went to he first unaccompanied festival at 16, which made me nervous, but very proud. Nothing like live music to make the soul alive! I never went to my first gig until I was 30, regretting it big style now!

ninah · 18/07/2013 18:45

take her to a proper gig!
still, each to their own, I had a child in R that was obsessed with jbj

LittleMissGerardButlerfan · 18/07/2013 19:10

I would take them, you hear worse language on the street these days anyway!

TidyDancer · 18/07/2013 19:11

Ignore the anti-Bon Jovi brigade.

You will have a great time. :)

ninah · 18/07/2013 19:14

she will really need those ear defenders Grin

BreconBeBuggered · 18/07/2013 19:21

It's fine, but make sure there are no restrictions on children standing if you don't want seats.

SaucyJack · 18/07/2013 19:23

Go for it. They're hardly Cradle of Filth.

we took DSD to see Bon Jovi when she was 6. She loved it.

We took ear defenders but she kept taking them off to hear the music better.

Chocotrekkie · 18/07/2013 19:38

My 7 and 9 yr olds loved it - but yes to ear defenders...

StuntGirl · 18/07/2013 19:40

Saucy Grin

Take her, just ensure she wears some kind of ear plugs/ear defenders.

orangepudding · 18/07/2013 19:47

I would bit I did take a 3, 7 and 10 year old to a festival to see Metallica and Slipknot so am probably not the best judge!

theodorakisses · 18/07/2013 19:48

Yes of course, as long as they want to (was hippy parented kid who was dragged to all sorts of stuff against her will) but yes, yes, yes and am v v v jell.

theodorakisses · 18/07/2013 19:49

Orange pudding, you are ACE!

malovitt · 18/07/2013 19:50

A lot of venues have a policy of no under 14s /16s standing?

TidyDancer · 18/07/2013 19:59

I'm thinking of outdoor gigs tbh wrt the seating issue. If its an indoor gig like at the O2 for eg, then seated would be better. If you're outdoors with basically one stand of seating, I would much rather be able to wander around with the DCs.
