I can't bear it anymore! I'm sick of being sweaty and sticky and grumpy! How do any of you in permanently hot countries cope?!

Today I spent £45 on the last fan in town. I really had looked everywhere (Argos, Robert Dyas, Maplin, even Rymans who I wasn't expecting to have fans but thought it might be worth a go since they sell office stuff). Then as I was walking past the department store which is just a part of the town furniture for me I decided to go in and check. I saw a fan and tried to pounce on it but a woman with a baby had already bagsied it. I was about to fight her for it when the shop assistants pointed out that they had another one. While I was paying for it someone else came in looking for one. I am forever grateful that there was a queue in Argos - I was pretty sure they were out of stock due to their website but was going to check in store before giving up hope.

had my hair washed and blow dried this morn and within 5 mins was all frizzy again.

gaaaah. hate this blasted heat.

last summer was nice as weather was pleasant, cool and occasional rain to cool everything and water everything. and the Olympics!

THATS what British weathers supposed to be in summer.

and saw on newsround all the dirty people leaving all their rubbish on the beaches as beaches are packed in this weather.

It's a rather British obsession with being seen to enjoy uncomfortably high temperatures and humidity when actually you can't sleep, can't stop sweating and for most hours of the day you need to put suncream on or stay in the shade.

In hot countries either it's less humid, people avoid the peak hours of sunshine or they are more generally acclimatised to the hot climate. Often all 3. There's nothing wrong with being more comfortable at 18c than 38c.

Low 20s is nice, around 22 is probably ideal.

I have just spent the day in an unairconditioned office with one feeble fan wafting warm air towards me sporadically. I left at 6.30 feeling faint and nauseous. And cross, because I had a lot of things to do and if the office had been cooler I would have stayed late and got them done. Hurumph.
