I can't bear it anymore! I'm sick of being sweaty and sticky and grumpy! How do any of you in permanently hot countries cope?!

I feel extra sorry for anyone who's pregnant in this heat! why is it so hot? Why doesn't my fan cool me down? Why does Rylan have a horrible beard? Gaaaaah.

I hate it! I feel as if I'm being cooked, I look like I'm melting. I'm a cm and none of my parents remember to put bloody sun cream on the kids and I have to slather them all in it before the school run every day. I would like a bit more of a nice breeze please.

I looooooooove the sunshine!

How can you possibly complain when we only get about three weeks if decent weather each year?

YABU. It is not 'heat' in comparison with many places. It is beautiful weather which we get far too little of.

But why? Why is it 'beautiful weather'?

I think it's horrible, there's nothing 'beautiful' about heat once it's above about 23c. I honestly don't get the 'hotter-the-better' mentality.

I know lots of people do think the hotter it gets, the better it is - you've only got to watch the gushing TV weather presenters to see that - but I honestly don't understand it. And no one is ever prepared to explain why every 1c increase is an increase for the better.

And no, I don't ever complain about it being cold wet and dark because I'm propbably weird but I LOVE winter. Grin

I HATE the summer. I have sensitive skin so I can go out with factor 50 on and still burn in 10 minutes. I get heat rash and suncream brings me out in spots. I hate being sticky and hot. I don't like ice cream or ice lollies.
I bloody love winter.

FrenchRuby · 13/07/2013 10:06

Oh and I also get hay fever. Summer is a fun time for me, I look so attractive with watery eyes, runny nose, sun burn and heat rash....

im ready for it to be winter already, now thats shorts and t-shirt weather!

I dont envy the pregnant, I gave birth 3 weeks ago and was over heating when there was snow on the ground!

We have a mini ice cube tray - and fill it with yoghurt or frozen fruit puree - you get 36 little frozen yoghurt/fruit "sweeties" which are just lovely.....

but I prefer weather a bit cooler too!

amy oh that's not far off then. It is my fave.

How do people stay all elegant and cool in this heat? I am a proper sweaty Betty yuk!

I think if you have to be in work, get jobs done and be busy in this heat it's a nightmare. On holiday abroad thereS usually air con and the sea to go in. Here I can cope with 23, 24, not 29, 30'C.

YANBU. I've pretty much hibernated for the past week, only leaving the house to go shopping and do the school run. I hate the heat. Only upside of this weather is getting all my washing dry really quickly.

I hate it and am miserable in hot weather. I was just saying to dp actually that I wish I could hibernate through summer, or "estivate" as we decided it should be. I actually think I have the opposite of SAD. Day after day of heat and sun seriously runs me down, affects my mood, makes me sad and irritable and just want to hide indoors with the curtains shut till it's over. On the other hand, waking up to grey skies, rain and cold makes me feel great. I would give anything right now for a chilly wind and a bit of cold drizzle and a nice dark sky Grin

Totally agree with you, JazzDalek. I positively welcome a nice overcast day with the threat of rain. I feel afraid of the sun, I just burn and come out in a lumpy UV rash. And putting suncream on 3 DC, even that once a day stuff, urgh. And then on me, and it make me hotter and just slides off. And having to reveal parts of myself best left covered up. Just EURGH to the lot of it.

I'm fat and menopausal. I have sensitive skin so get prickly heat and burn. I have hayfever. The insects love the taste of my blood and I've been bitten by horseflies again, which I am allergic too. I can't sleep. The dog doesn't know what to do with himself and this afternoon I have to work.

20 degrees is pleasant. Anything over that is only OK if I'm on holiday, don't have to work in it, have a pool and air conditioned accomodation.

I am proper fed up and feeling rather sorry for myself. I probably need to get some perspective.

I agree with most of these comments, just prefer it cooler. Part of the problem for me is a feeling that I 'ought' to be outside, doing the garden, having bbqs, socialising etc. I'd rather be sat inside reading, on MN or pottering about doing indoor jobs! I'm a bit odd though!

London is appalling. The only way to survive public transport is to wear a skirt and sit legs akimbo like a poledancer.

It's not a treat for anyone.
