AIBU to not want to hear constant negative comments about having a baby

My first is due in Sept and I am getting increasingly tired of hearing comments about how having a baby will basically ruin my life.

If I am to believe what I have been told by colleagues, friends, family this week alone then after sept I will never be able to wash, sleep, eat a meal, go to the toilet alone, go out, have any time alone, enjoy any hobbies, continue eith a career EVER again....

Now don't get me wrong, I am aware my life will change massively but surely having children isn't as ruinous as people are making out? And if it is that way - maybe people should just keep their bloody traps shut because I am scared enough as it is!

Please MNers .... Tell me that having children is actually quite nice sometimes!!

Tarka, I'm coping much better with a toddler and baby than I ever did with one baby alone. From the moment DS2 started to be aware of the world around him, he has been utterly besotted with his big brother. He is much more chilled out, smiley and friendly than Ds1 was at this age, too. The vast majority of second babies I know are similar. Only one has had colic, and his older brother was a complete dream from the word go, so maybe we all have to have one tricky one?!

Don't worry op not all babies take over mum's lifes!!
I don't get this not able to shower or have a wash! Seriously this isn't true and i have 4dc to account for and never once missed a needed bath or shower, baby came in with me in bouncer or basket or i took monitor in with meSmile

Babies are portable and easy to take out, alot more so than a walking child. All you need is a comfy pram, and a changing bag full of supplies.
As for sleep, that's dependant on baby's temperment, i had 3dc that slept through the night from 4 weeks and 1 that slept mostly in the day, it was a bit of a struggle but the reward outway the negativesSmile

Days out, the giggles, the smiles, the milestones, the imagination, the list goes on and best of all a little miniture version of you and your dpSmile

Some people always look for the negatives in life and in that process scare the shit out of new mums to be, don't worry you will be fine

I have loved that last nine months with DD and wouldn't change a thing. Maternity leave rocks
