So am I being unreasonable to have never tasted it? I don't even know what it is, I've seen the little sachets thingies in ASDA but never been inclined to purchase one.

Am I missing out?

I remember going to a friends house for tea and her mum made dessert of vanilla ice cream, chopped banana, drizzled with golden syrup and topped with corn flakes. It was surprisingly nice.

Sparklingbrook · 11/07/2013 12:45

And the king of puddings Vienetta. Grin

moonbells · 11/07/2013 12:45

I used to love the raspberry one as a child. But then I became veggie and it has gelatine in so haven't had it for years. Ho hum!

Skintorama · 11/07/2013 12:45

Oh you have to try it. Butterscotch, though, the others are VILE.

It's gorgey porgey.

Sparklingbrook · 11/07/2013 12:46

The strawberry one is nasty. About as far removed from strawberries as you can get.

AmazingBouncingFerret · 11/07/2013 12:46

Freudian I saw those for sale in asda months ago and bought one because i'd never tried it. It was horrible even the kids didn't eat it.

SoleSource · 11/07/2013 12:51

Banana angel delight in the blue packet - hard to get hold of I think. Supermarket brand is crap.

AmazingBouncingFerret · 11/07/2013 12:57

Dammit Sad Why did my mother not give me angel delight for my 5th birthday in 89??

OP posts:
Greige · 11/07/2013 12:59

My mam used to make a special pudding now and again

Chocolate mousse layered with strawberry angel delight and topped with dream topping

True child of the 70's here!

tabulahrasa · 11/07/2013 13:03

It's like sloppy mousse...I hate it, I have issues with cold slimy food.

SigmundFraude · 11/07/2013 13:05

Yes, you are unreasonable. Go eat some.

Justforlaughs · 11/07/2013 13:07

Make sure you get the REAL DEAL, no cheap supermarkets copies, thank you!
tabulahrasa it's not sloppy if you make it properly and set it in the fridge. Don't put too much milk in.
Tip - it's nice and very fattening if you cut back on the milk and make up the quantity with cream instead!

ilovexmastime · 11/07/2013 13:08

My favourite memory of Angel Delight in the 80s is of watching my best friend puke it up on Guide camp after she'd told the leader that it made her sick, but was made to eat it anyway! I offered to eat hers (love it) but she wanted to prove a point....

Isthiscorrect · 11/07/2013 13:09

We had Angel delight ice cream cake. Loaf tin lined with foil green (cant remember what flavour, maybe mint?) on the bottom, vanilla in the middle and strawberry on the top. Then freeze and cut into slice with dream topping and glace cherries. Proper sophisticated we were not.

worsestershiresauce · 11/07/2013 13:09

You obviously didn't grow up in the seventies. It was a staple foodstuff back then. It is nothing like custard... not even remotely similar. Think poisonously sweet, sticky, mousse, with a real kick of a chemical after taste. Yum. Not.

FreudiansSlipper · 11/07/2013 13:10

Greige 70's perfection

i bought ds some sponge fingers he did not like them Shock and he is not a fussy eater

Mrsrobertduvall · 11/07/2013 13:11

I am now going to make up a butterscotch one and eat it all with a banana chopped up.

I love creme caramel and blancmange too.

jeee · 11/07/2013 13:12

Sparklingbrook you're entirely missing the point about the strawberry flavour. It has to be completely synthetic, guaranteed fruit-free. Delicious.

Pixielady83 · 11/07/2013 13:13

Angel delight is a guilty pleasure in our house Blush

One of DH's colleagues says she used to serve 2 kinds together in a glass as a 'posh' dessert at her dinner parties in the 70s. Fab!
