(Taken from Wahing Thread) AIBU to keep my pegs pegged to the line? or is it a sign of being idol?

When i peg my washing out and bring it back in again i leave the pegs pegged onto the line. According to my Dad & Stepmum & my mum, its lazy.

Is it?

I leave mine on,those plastic storm pegs,no metal so no rust.

I wipe the line before hanging out and no yuck on clothes etc yet. Tbh, if anyone near me thought I was idle I wouldn't care as I think I am the only one hanging washing out anyway!

I have far more exciting things to do in my life, than to take the pegs off the line after I've taken all the clothes in! I don't wipe the line if it's rained either Shock Neither do I put it down when I'v finished and cover it up! (mainly because it's stuck in the 'up' position though!)

I flirted with this system for a couple of weeks then realised it was really pissing me off not having the pegs in the right places. Too many pegs on one bit, not enough on the other. And they attracted spiders.

I've gone back to taking them off and I'm happier for it.

I leave mine on, life is too short.

However if you MUST take them off so as not to be a common slut, here's how to make a pegbag

  1. take a carrier bag (type according to ego/class
  2. tie to washing line by one or both handles according to taste

Mine were on all winter. And I didn't wipe the line before I used it. I just hung dps dark work clothes on it first.

And whilst we are talking about being idle with laundry I tumble dry most things for a few minutes when I bring them in.

Then I get away with carefully folding stuff instead of ironing it.

I always leave the pegs on. Washing has been known to stay on the line for several days.

If you leave them on the line they can mark your clothes.

We leave ours on the line. I don't give a damn what that means! I might wipe the line once a year. No muck or marks on clothes yet!

Well, I've managed to avoid marks on my washing for the 25 years I've been leaving pegs on the line!

I used to be awful and just pull the washing off the line and let the peg fall were it may, now that is idle. I have no excuse I've always been a slut like that

Why would pegs being on the line when there's on clothes leave peg marks on clothes?

I leave my pegs on as I get twitchy if I don't use matching pegs ie two pink, two blue etc per item

My mum made me a Peg Apron to keep my pegs in. It hangs on its own special hook inside when not in use and when I hang out the washing I tie it round my waist and feel like a 50s housewife.

That is what you need, OP.

Life's too bloody short to worry about pegs on a washing line. Anyway at least I bring my washing in at night and my neighbour leaves it out for days in the rain so I look like a domestic godess in comparison :o
