What's your opinion?
I personally think its horrible, looking wise and for the poor baby to go through and has no choice.
6 weeks old!!!!! How can that be aloud!!!!!!!!!!!? Is there any law on this!?

But so pretty.

Sleepingbunnies · 09/07/2013 21:41

You mean how can it be allowed :)

ThedementedPenguin · 09/07/2013 21:42

monkeyfacegrace · 09/07/2013 21:44

Hahahaha.

Yawn

Its cyoot, innit. Just gawjus.

ImNotBloody14 · 09/07/2013 21:45

i agree op. to me it's like dyeing their hair or giving them a little tattoo at the same age. awful. what is the point?

AtYourCervix · 09/07/2013 21:45

And babys dont feel pain.

InViennaWeWerePoetry · 09/07/2013 21:47

Mine were pierced at around 10 weeks I think, I survived. I'm awful with needles, so if anything my parents did me a favour doing it when I was too young to remember it. YABU, if you don't approve of it, just don't do it to your own kids.

numbum · 09/07/2013 21:47

You'll be torn to shreds in a 'oh not this again' type way.

However, I agree with you. Any child who isn't old enough to make a decision about their own body shouldn't have their ears pierced IMO.

NinaJade666 · 09/07/2013 21:49

I saw a baby girl in Greggs the other day, at the most 6 months old, ears pierced, MASSIVE headband with HUGE flower, fast asleep, bottle propped up in it's mouth and... a HUGE diamond (fake maybe) ring on it's middle finger.

Definitely a traveller's baby.

It just struck me as weird. The ring more than anything TBH..

InViennaWeWerePoetry · 09/07/2013 21:50

It's not the same as a tattoo though, it's far more commonplace and if the child doesn't want to wear earrings when they're older, they can just take them out and the hole will close up eventually. They're not scarred for life.

LilacPeony · 09/07/2013 21:50

The fact that someone survived having something done to them as a kid is not enough to justify it.

MamaBear17 · 09/07/2013 21:50

Wrong on many levels. There is no way to enhance a babies cuteness. Fact. I would be worried about getting the earing stuck whilst breastfeeding.

usualsuspect · 09/07/2013 21:51

It's discusting !!!!!!!!!!!

Sleepingbunnies · 09/07/2013 21:51

FWIW I agree.

Lj8893 · 09/07/2013 21:52

Nina as much as I agree that sounds very very weird, I think YABU to say it was definitely a travellers baby!!!

Athrawes · 09/07/2013 21:53

No worse than circumcision.

ScarletLady02 · 09/07/2013 21:53

InVienna - did you ever stop to think that maybe getting your ears pierced so young may have caused your needle phobia? Grin

Aw but it's sweet to see little babbys all blinged up.

I'd draw the line at a belly button piercing though, at least until they are out of nappies.

ImNotBloody14 · 09/07/2013 21:56

the holes close over but they don't disappear ( i know i have them)

would it be acceptable if it was the child's nose or the top part of their ear or their eyebrow?

MalcolmTuckersMum · 09/07/2013 21:56

It IS discusting. And rediculous.

Sirzy · 09/07/2013 21:57

Anything like ear piecing should be the individuals choice and only when they are old enough/sensible enough to look after it themselves. Therefore it is wrong to pierce a babies ears IMO.

If nothing else why would you want to attach something to your child which could so easily get pulled out (very painfully) whilst playing?

NinaJade666 · 09/07/2013 22:00

I might be unreasonable saying that Lj8893
... but I was definitely a traveller's baby. We have lots round here. I recognise them when I see them Grin

NinaJade666 · 09/07/2013 22:01

*it

InViennaWeWerePoetry · 09/07/2013 22:02

ScarlettLady no I didn't, good thought though Grin According to my mum the piercing process didn't bother me at all though.

Joking aside, I honestly don't see why people have such a problem with it. The majority of adult women have their ears pierced these days, what does it matter at what age they get them done?
