What's your opinion?
I personally think its horrible, looking wise and for the poor baby to go through and has no choice.
6 weeks old!!!!! How can that be aloud!!!!!!!!!!!? Is there any law on this!?

Ear piercing is a bit odd really in a way. It's the soft end of body piercing. I had mine done at 12 for confirmation, now it's done at 7. And that's the accepted thing. But it's a part of the body people just have accepted its ok to pierce on children - just a matter of when it happens.
My dd is 12, her ears are not pierced. I think she's the only child in her class that hasn't been pierced. She can have it if she wants to, she's not bothered.
Maybe it's like tatoos, it's nearly more individual to not have one these days
off topic slightly

Sirzy · 09/07/2013 22:03

The majority of adult women may have them done, but some don't want it done. Why should someone else make that choice for them?

RinkyDinkyDoo · 09/07/2013 22:06

Actually snorted out loud at "discusting and rediculous" very good, very very good. I thank you.x

expatinscotland · 09/07/2013 22:06

This is turning into fucking NetMums. 'Aloud'.

!!!!!!

FFS.

I had mine pierced as a newborn. I'm brown, and a lot of brown people do it. Just cultural reasons.

I am still here.

expatinscotland · 09/07/2013 22:07

But did she had a headband with flowers? And a bottle?

Reenypip · 09/07/2013 22:07

Their immune system is weak, so any infections worst outcome could be fatal.
They have no choice over it.
It obviously causes pain by the response the baby makes.
They could easily pull it out causing damage as little babies like to grab all sorts of things, which then they could even swallow!

Plus I just don't like it at that age. I think 6 weeks old is too young!!

Just my opinion.

Personally for me, body mods (and it IS a body mod) are a personal choice. DD can have her ears pierced if she wants them. I won't be making that choice for her. Simple as that for me really.

expatinscotland · 09/07/2013 22:09

Aha, you don't like it, I see.

I don't like poor spelling and punctuation misuse, either.

usualsuspect · 09/07/2013 22:11

Don't be like that, expat hun xxx

SunshineBossaNova · 09/07/2013 22:13

If you hate ear piercing, you'd hate circumcision.

ll31 · 09/07/2013 22:15

Think yabu to be so horrified. Haven't yet seen a story about a baby swallowed ed by her earrings but, hey, maybe it's there...

eragon · 09/07/2013 22:16

what about risk of metal allergies?

nasty idea to have them so young.

Gonnabmummy · 09/07/2013 22:16

I don't have mine done and have never had any desire to have mine pierced, I would not have thanked my mother for doing this. My child will not be having theirs done. To add my Dsis begged and beepgged when she was around 8yo my mum relented she got a terrible infection from gp having a allergic reaction then refusing for it to be touched because it hurt her. Imagine if she was only weeks old at that point

LilacPeony · 09/07/2013 22:16

LOL. U know ur bubs hun MotherofDragons82 Grin

Gonnabmummy · 09/07/2013 22:16

Begged and begged * silly ipad

expatinscotland · 09/07/2013 22:17

K, usual, I'm off to the babies in hotel rooms thread to see if the poster who finds it too dangerous to leave a 13-year-old alone in the room whilst they visit the bar is back.

ImNotBloody14 · 09/07/2013 22:17

"a lot of brown people do it. Just cultural reasons."

lots of brown people do it for non cultural reasons.
lots of white people do it for cultural reasons
lots of white people do it for no cultural reasons.

they all have what they consider to be justifiable reasons.

saying it's cultural doesn't mean it should be accepted as ok to do to children.

usualsuspect · 09/07/2013 22:17

Your bubz your roolz

TheFallenNinja · 09/07/2013 22:17

LynetteScavo · 09/07/2013 22:19

Reenypip we hear you, calm down.

expatinscotland · 09/07/2013 22:19

I didn't say it was, just that is why. Meh. Usual, let's go find a smo king thread.

usualsuspect · 09/07/2013 22:22
