We would like to meet with the aggrieved party to offer a personal and unreserved apology. It wasn't my fault/ that wasn't what I meant. We took our eyes off the ball but have addressed the issue and changes have been put in place.

Or words to that effect.

It certainly seems that way to me from NHS bosses and Council heads apologises for catastrophic failures but refusing to quit to the BBC apologising for its asinine sports commentator but refusing to sack him.

Oh and not to leave out, the expense grabbing MP, reckless Banker, disgraceful Police Investigator, immoral newspaper editor and tax avoiding multi national corporation.

By the way I apologise personally and unreservedly to any of the aforementioned who take offence. I suspect my apology is as honest and heartfelt as yours was.

I hate that rather than just immediately admitting to responsibility, organisations have to be pressurised into any apology.

I don't care if they are going to get sued, so what suck it up, you have insurance, not everyone sues,

just admit what you did wrong the instant it is brought to your attention, anything else is abuse.

my bil 'apologised' to me by saying 'i never meant to upset you, you DAFTY'

and then 'I am sorry that YOU are upset'

grrr I hate apologies that arent apologies because it's either:

forced
so far in the future that there are no reprocussions on anyone as it had been 'dealt with' or it was 'in the past'

turned round into your fault
