So today I went for my first hypnotherapy session as I've finally decided to do something about my anxiety problems. The session cost £70 and took p,ace in a dentists surgery where the hypnotherapist rents a room. While the therapist did a good job with what she was saying to me, I wasn't able to relax very well because there was a baby screaming during most of the session.
I must have at least been somewhat hypnotised as I'm not 100% sure exactly what happened but I do remember hearing the baby screaming and at that point I know I must have made a funny face because the hypnotherapist said "you will block out even the most annoying loud noises and focus on relaxation" and I remember thinking "yeah right" and feeling annoyed. In fact I have been on edge for the rest of the day today for seemingly o reason and I wonder if its from being so annoyed while in a highly suggestable state.
My husband was waiting for me in the waiting room and when we left he said the baby had Ben screaming loudly for about an hour and he couldn't believe what a racket there had been. He said it had been very annoying for him and he also said it seemed to be the dentists baby rather than another customer.
I didn't say anything about it to the hypnotherapist because for one thing I was still feeling groggy and vulnerable when we left and for another I figured it was a baby in for dental treatment of some kind and felt sorry for the baby but also thought the baby wouldn't be there next weekend for my next appointment. Now I realise I was wrong and there's a food chance baby wil be back.
So AIBU to be annoyed and should I say anything before during or after my next session? And if so what? Or do I cancel and try to find another hypnotherapist? Like I said I do think this one was good and if I could just relax properly I think she could help me. But I've only done hypnotherapy using YouTube videos before and for those, in my own home with no background noise, I was able to relax much more deeply.
The hypnotherapist did say before the session that there might be some noise from the dental practice and office but she didn't mention the possibility of a screaming baby!
