Just that. I have a two teenagers, a grumpy husband and a VERY fast car.

Nombrechanger · 04/07/2013 00:24

Well he IS grumpy after all...

Snoot · 04/07/2013 00:24

I've got two grumpy teenagers upstairs and a husband living it up in Hong Kong. I'm stuck attending school end of term events alone. I've got a Sussex tractor so I can handle the snow. Where are we going?

Wuldric · 04/07/2013 00:29

Well I'm thinking about the route here.

What do you think about hitting all the cities in Europe that we should've hit before we had teenagers and a grumpy DHs?

I was thinking Prague, Budapest, Berlin, quick veer to the left to take in Menton and Nice and across the border to Italy.

We have to avoid cliffs though.

Nice itinerary. Can I perch on the back, smoking a fag and getting my hair tangled?

Snoot · 04/07/2013 00:35

Oooh, cigarettes, so good! Are we allowing ourselves to smoke? It'll have to be a convertible then. With chilled champagne. Who's driving? I'd like a quick tour of Scandinavia, if poss.

acheekyvimto · 04/07/2013 00:36

Of course you can, we are supposed to be free of shackles.

Wuldric · 04/07/2013 00:36

Tangled hair and fags are a MUST

Is good. I am coming to collect you all for the Mumsnet Road Trip.

Sheesh we can even go somewhere snowy if you want. But we will have to bring shovels and I don't think Tracy ever envisaged digging. Let's not do digging.

I too have a fast car. Sadly, it's always being driven by everyone else and I always seem to get lumped with the people carrier. But at least that's got a decent sound system.

Snoot · 04/07/2013 00:40

Maybe Tuscany? No, too many annoying families. Monaco?

garlicnutty · 04/07/2013 00:40

Hurrah! This is fun! Hairdressers' cars rool! (I used to have a Golf GTI convertible, which was the closest I could get to the Beemer; 'twas also known as a hairdressers' car.)

No. NO DIGGING. We could get stuck in a snowdrift, if you like, as long as we all pile out for gluhwein & snacks while a team of handsome men dig out our your car?

acheekyvimto · 04/07/2013 00:41

Can we cheat and get Jenson Button to be our designated driver. He can help get us out of the snow drifts.

Wuldric · 04/07/2013 00:45

I am in love with the idea of a designated driver with a stomach like a washboard so that we can all drink champagne with abandon.

OP posts:
Snoot · 04/07/2013 00:45

No men! Perhaps on, ahem, stop-overs, but the car is sacred!

Snoot · 04/07/2013 00:47

Well, perhaps a handsome chauffeur Wink

garlicnutty · 04/07/2013 00:50

Grin It's okay, Wuldric, Snoot's concession means champagne & gay abandon for you too!

lookoveryourshouldernow · 04/07/2013 00:54

..I had a lovely fast car once - with a super duper automatic retractable hood - t'was wonderful .... Hair flying in the wind - looking dead cool but then I had a baby .....

All the crap that flys off things on the motorway and roads made me think again ...

Don't care anymore - I can't see what I am driving...

Wuldric · 04/07/2013 00:58

look

Welcome back to gay abandon. We're going on a road trip :)

Snoot · 04/07/2013 01:00

Ladies, it was your idea, Jensen can come Wink. Perhaps I should take this opportunity to point out I can only drive an automatic? I'll buy a headscarf in the morning.

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 04/07/2013 01:24

Im still in but Ill need to travel in the boot, because sadly, I don't own a passport! Sad

Beaverfeaver · 04/07/2013 06:59

Funny how one poster doesn't think its fast.

The 3.2 s drive does 0-60 in 4.3 seconds.
That's faster than most Porsches and some super cars.

The slowest if the z4's is still 0-60 in 6 seconds, which will beat and 'hot hatch'.

(Yes, i am pedantic about these things)

NewAtThisMalarky · 04/07/2013 07:15

My car is more like this guys (you tube link to a cover of Tracy chapman' fast car - warning: you might not understand the accent)

hellery - another word for assorted accumulated goods (junk, crap, stuff)

NewAtThisMalarky · 04/07/2013 07:19

My link isn't working for me - you could always search steven Robertson no a fast car

TheVermiciousKnid · 04/07/2013 07:26

Hm, if it's going to be a MN road trip you'll need either a caravan or a trailer to fit everybody in. Probably even a whole long line of caravans or trailers. I fear it would rather cramp your style and slow you down. Grin

I have one grumpy teenager and a DH who is a lot less grumpy since he's stopped working (I'm a lot less grumpy as well because he is doing virtually all the housework/childcare Grin). I would come, but I think you would probably abandon me at the road side after a few miles because I would nag you not to go too fast, insist on everybody wearing seatbelts and ask you not to blow your fag smoke in my direction.

biryani · 04/07/2013 08:20

Love it! I'd have one but I'm too stiff to get in and out! What's yours, Nombrechanger?

dippymother · 04/07/2013 08:28

I was thinking the same Perched!
