Is still alive, and well?

Nearly 19 years, isn't it. Bloody hell.

No he isn't.

I hope so - I imagine him sitting in the shade near a sunny beach, writing books and being happy in his own skin

I would hope so, but it seems so unrealistic. You would think he'd have contacted Nicky Wire at some point, as they were so close. But maybe he has and NW and others have kept it private to respect his decision to be left alone? Poor soul.

Look at the woman in the US who turned up after about ten years.

Unlikely but no one knows for sure.

I would love to think he's alive. Truthfully though, I really don't know what I think.

My head says he is sadly now dead.

I don't think anyone secretly knows where he is. His sister does a lot with Missing Persons charities so I doubt he is being hidden away by close friends/family.
But you never know.. But tbh I don't think anyone ever will.

Wherever he is, I hope he is at peace. I think about him a lot.

I think the manics behaved with so much grace and poise regarding it all

He was declared legally dead so that his family could take over his affairs. I get the impression the family think he is alive. The story about somebody approaching a man resembling him somewhere abroad and him running off rang true for his sister, I believe.

I want to believe he is alive. I wasn't familiar with their music at the time, but his disappearance fascinated me. I can't imagine how his family must feel.

I just somehow get the feeling his family KNOW he's alive- the change of heart about him being legally pressumed dead just makes me think he has been in contact and has requested this to be kept secret.

I think even if he had been alive for while after his disappearance he's dead now. As others have said,he was unwell at the time.

Very sad for his family.

I also like to think he's still alive (despite the odds being very much against it ) and happy somewhere. I'd love it if he was living a quiet little life somewhere.
