I've given all of my baby stuff to a friend in need. Both her and DH are out of work and got DC3 on the way. She asked me and even though I was going to sell it as I am hard up myself (had to rent house out as cant afford my mortgage) I let her have it
because she has nothing. It was all in excellent condition, some of it practically new as my own DTs spent a very long time in hospital.

I have just been on FB to see that every item is for sale on one of the selling sites.

I'm furious. AIBU? And also, WWYD?

Shock what a cheeky cowbag!

expatinscotland · 04/07/2013 12:47

page, fucking phone

maternitart · 04/07/2013 12:48

Am I right in thinking she hasn't even used it?! Cheeky bitch. If money was so tight she should have at least asked you if she could sell it first. I would post polite comments on every item if you get no response, so that it's clear to potential buyers that it's not hers to sell.

Someone gave me a load of baby stuff - I asked if they wanted it back once I'd used the bits I needed, and even offered to sell it for them if not. They asked me to donate it to charity, which I did. I could have made ££ out of it instead by selling it anyway, but would have felt v uncomfortable about it.

But this isn't the first thread of its kind. There are loads of grabby, shitty people who'd sell their own granny given half the chance.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 04/07/2013 13:03

She is being grasping and rude. But when this story gets round all your mutual friends, she will find she never gets lent/given any second hand stuff ever again - and oh boy will she regret it!

Could you post another comment, on another item (or all of them, maybe) saying you want them back and will be round to collect them asap?

Crinkle77 · 04/07/2013 13:32

Has she used the stuff and is now selling it or has she not even used it at all?

misspoirot · 04/07/2013 16:48

Has she replied yet?

FieryChipotle · 04/07/2013 20:22

She has replied!

She sent me a text as if nothing had happened along the lines of 'hiya, hope you're alright, we should have a meet up soon!'

I replied with 'Well I'll see you when I come to collect the items of mine that you have been trying to sell on Facebook!'

Apparently, her MIL 'gave' her stuff that was 'exactly the same' as the things I had given her and so she was selling the duplicates on Facebook!

LAME!

All of our mutual friends know now and they are all horrified... But apparently not surprised. Hmm

Unbelievable. At least now you know what she's like and won't be doing any favours again.

gamerchick · 04/07/2013 20:29

If she hadn't have asked for the stuff and I had offered then I wouldn't be arsed. I've given stuff away and said that it has a resale value if she wants to get rid of it at some point.

But the fact she asked and then tried to sell... very cheeky! Get it back and sell it yourself.

morethanpotatoprints · 04/07/2013 20:33

Just tell her you will come and pick your stuff up then as she already has some exactly the same and you have another friend who is desperate for baby clothes.
The cheeky cow, and a liar too.

CalamityJ · 04/07/2013 20:36

Cheeky bitch! I'd go over right now and pick up all your stuff. Ungrateful cow!

FieryChipotle · 04/07/2013 21:32

I think I'm just going to write the stuff off as a poor character judgement on my part. I'm not going to waste any more of my time on her money-grabbing ways. At least I have seen her true colours now! Hmm

CalamityJ · 04/07/2013 21:54

fiery no! Cheeky cow will think she's got away with it! At least comment on every single Facebook post of your stuff.

expatinscotland · 04/07/2013 22:57

I'd do what Hecsy said, not write it off. But then, if I were that hard up, I'd have sold it already.

Don't write it off Fiery! Arrange to get it ASAP, it's YOUR stuff!

holidaysarenice · 05/07/2013 00:34

Don't write it off. Think what you could do with that money!!!

LegoLegoEverywhere · 05/07/2013 00:52

Great! If she has the exact duplicates she does not need your stuff and you can pick it up. A win-win situation not that I-believe your "friend" for one second

The cheeky mare.

FieryChipotle · 05/07/2013 18:28

Ha I know Lego, it's so lame it's funny. I just don't want anything to do with her at the moment! I have commented on every single item on every single site and lots of people (strangers and friends) are liking my comments! A public shaming is always cathartic...

OP posts:
SarahAndFuck · 05/07/2013 18:34

Tell her to keep the stuff her MIL gave her and return yours as you need the money yourself.

NicknameIncomplete · 05/07/2013 18:44

I agree with Sarah. Tell her to keep the MIL stuff. (not that their is any)

She is a cheeky bitch. There is a difference between selling it 2 years down the line when you have used it & selling it straight away as soon as you get them.

fackinell · 05/07/2013 18:47

OH my God!!! Well send someone else round but don't write it off. My gast is well and truly flabbered by this!!! Shock

IneedAsockamnesty · 05/07/2013 19:35

Giving so done a untrue sob story to obtain goods or services stating you need to use them when you fully intend to sell them is a criminal offence.

Its obtaining goods or services by deception a type of fraud.

When you do it to a friend or family member it has aggrivating factors because of the breach of trust involved.

So she's a nasty dishonest person and YANBU
