I mean, I live in the second largest county in England. Surely there's scope for one somewhere around here?

Don't your council leisure/sports centres have some? I just googled sauna and found several available, including in the local posh hotel.

And is one of the poorest in the country.

Those sorts of saunas usually have a rule enforcing the wearing of swimsuits, though, which destroys a lot of the point.

Ah, OK. Right, this may get expensive then, but what about self-catering holiday places? Some of them have private saunas and you could get as nekkid as you like.

(Are Londoners less shy, then?)

It's not that Londoners are less shy so much that there exist sufficiently many non-shy people in London. Maybe there don't in my county.
