When did it stop being the done thing to let neighbours know you were having a party

It started at 8:30. Now watching The White Queen to drown it out. Had to close my living room window as they were smoking on their front porch. I know I am being unreasonable really I suppose but just wanted a rant!Confused

Omg. Does CTZ mean something to you? I think I've just found someone I know on mumsnet!

englishteacher78 · 29/06/2013 22:00

It does indeed - am I that obvious!

Thoughtless idiots- that sort of thing really winds me up too. Don't forget to mow your lawn and maybe have the kids sing a few songs outside early doors tomorrow morning.

MalcolmTuckersMum · 29/06/2013 22:01

Do you think it's going to be a late one? Next door were all outside smoking at 3am last weekend - they were laughing so loudly it was unreal! To be fair they were very apologetic when I asked them to quieten down a bit - I think they were just a bit pissed and didn't realise how loud they were.
Hope yours doesn't go on too late

englishteacher78 · 29/06/2013 22:01

Got no grass! But I am going out for an early run tomorrow so some door slamming may have to happen accidentally Wink

I just had to ask my usually-lovely neighbour if she could possibly stop mowing her lawn since it's fricking ten- o'clock ffs--. She seemed surprised....

NewAtThisMalarky · 29/06/2013 22:03

I just saw your post on fb, and your nick is a big clue. I'm the very north one x

englishteacher78 · 29/06/2013 22:08

And now I know who you are too! I won't tell if you won't Wink

NewAtThisMalarky · 29/06/2013 22:13

I'm saying nothing

It didn't seem fair not to tell you somehow...

NewAtThisMalarky · 29/06/2013 22:14

Hmm not sure where the random string came from!

pregnantpause · 29/06/2013 22:27

No idea what you're all on about, but yanbu! I always tell neighbours, whatever the inconvenient thing I'm doing, building, sawing, partying, whatever. The favour is not returnedAngry

GameSetAndMatch · 29/06/2013 22:31

Iam the same as pregnant and I get same feedback- none- too, in return.

englishteacher78 · 29/06/2013 22:33

It looks like it was just exceptionally loud getting ready to go out session - so hopefully I'll be fast asleep by the time they get back crosses fingers

Do it. Early morning is the best part of the day, you're only helping them experience it!

Talkinpeace · 29/06/2013 22:50

Go round.
ASk what time they are finishing. If its gonna be late, join the party.

WE always, always, always warn our neighbours
when we had the big lasers, we let them know and they both had friends to visit to watch!

GameSetAndMatch · 29/06/2013 22:52

and they should stop by a certain time, find out on your council website. not that council ever do anything (well, mine dont) but still, good to know, and let neighbours know.

HeySoulSister · 29/06/2013 22:55

Dd has her workmates

xylem8 · 29/06/2013 22:55

what would you have done differently had you known they were having a party?

HeySoulSister · 29/06/2013 22:56

Round for pre drinks before going clubbing! They are loud. When will they go?

englishteacher78 · 29/06/2013 22:56

All quiet now. It's times like this that I wish we lived in the country instead of almost the town centre.

OP posts:
englishteacher78 · 29/06/2013 22:57

@xylem I wouldn't have done anything differently. But I would have thought they were less rude.

Position your speakers facing the wall opposite the teenagers bedroom and blast opera/nursery tunes from about 8am. Then go out for the whole day...
