To think this was minging

Been out today to a local fete. There was a bouncy castle and a bouncy slide. Told he kids to choose one or the other and they chose the castle.

While we were waiting our turn, a kid puked at the top of the bouncy slide. The bloke running the castle went to help - I think it was his wife running it. He wiped up the sick with kitchen roll and rubbed a towel around, then all the kids swarmed back up the slide. No water, no disinfectant, nothing.

AIBU to a) think this is minging and B) predict a significant outbreak of vomiting in the local area in the next day or so?

Bork!
They could have at least stopped them going on for a bit and ran and got some anti bac wipes.

CloudsAndTrees · 29/06/2013 15:52

YANBU, that's minging. You'd have thought someone at a local fete would have been able to find some form of spray or anti bac wipe or something.

LaurieFairyCake · 29/06/2013 15:52

Wouldn't bother me.

Just as likely kid had too much ice cream than an actual illness.

Also in this weather the germs will quickly die on a surface in the sunlight. Added to which you're talking about where children stand, right? Where their shoes are? So not a place you're touching much with bare hands.?

NeoMaxiZoomDweebie · 29/06/2013 15:52

EEEEW!!

HoppinMad · 29/06/2013 16:01

Yuk... Even if the child was sick due to too much ice cream or whatever and not illness, its still horrible as the smell of vomit lingers unless cleaned properly with a wet cloth/wipe.

YoureAllABunchOfBastards · 29/06/2013 16:02

Nope, it was at the top where they crouch and sit down to go down the slide - so hands there a lot. And literally a ten second gap between the wipe with the manky towel and kids rushing back up - they collided with the bloke coming back down the steps. I'd have hauled my two away the minute the puke hit the canvas!

Ugh

Alisvolatpropiis · 29/06/2013 16:23

Yanbu.

SisterMatic · 29/06/2013 16:33

Hopefully it was just the result of too much fun and food rather than a bug.

HaveIGotPoosForYou · 29/06/2013 16:46

That's grim.

I assume you're kids didn't end up going on it in the end?

Definitely not right at all. Even if just sick from excitement, who wants to get sick on their hands (some may have stayed there) or the smell of it on their hands or clothes.

Not nice.

HostasNotSnails · 29/06/2013 16:52

Yuck.

Catinthebed · 29/06/2013 17:01

A lot of children will have previous exposure to any local circulating bug and therefore have some immunity. A child would most likely not get ill. You are probably more at risk by touching toilet door handles where people haven't washed thier hands.

ParadiseChick · 29/06/2013 17:32

Wouldn't actually phase me.

DragonsAreReal · 29/06/2013 17:36

I have noticed this to on fairground rides, last time their was vom on the waltzers and they just wiped it off with that blue roll you get in prof catering places and such.

nooka · 29/06/2013 17:38

Well it's a bit gross I suppose, and a wet cloth would have done a better job, but the puke was most likely just from over exertion so no I very much doubt there will be an outbreak of anything.
