To serve pasta with Chilli?

MortifiedAdams · 28/06/2013 15:40

Got the chilli on and just discovered that I have no rice left.

Would it be that bad to just serve it with pasta (fusilli if that makes a difference)?

I would go to the shop for rice tbh.

MrsTerryPratchett · 28/06/2013 15:43

I almost served pasta sauce with rice yesterday. I stopped myself Grin

ArbitraryUsername · 28/06/2013 15:44

I'd make potato wedges instead.

TotallyEggFlipped · 28/06/2013 15:44

Nothing wrong with it at all. YANBU

lirael · 28/06/2013 15:45

No - just serve it with pasta - it's only for the family, I'm assuming?

wonderingsoul · 28/06/2013 15:48

whats wrong with chilli and pasta?

insomniarules · 28/06/2013 15:49

Erm. I did exactly that last night for thd sand reasons. It was fine.

FringeEvent · 28/06/2013 15:49

Don't suppose you have any potatoes? I've done a 'chilli cottage pie' type thing before, with cheesy mash for the topping

EduCated · 28/06/2013 15:50

I often have pasta and chilli ad I don't eat rice. It's only like bolognese, innit? Wink

OhYouBadBadKitten · 28/06/2013 15:50

It is fine, like spicy bolognaise.

Ilovesunflowers · 28/06/2013 15:50

I always eat chilli with pasta. It's just spicy spag bol really!

AmandaPandtheTantrumofDoom · 28/06/2013 15:51

There's nothing inherently odd about the flavour combinations, go ahead.

I might do jackets instead though. Jacket spuds and chilli is one of my favourites.

RobotBananas · 28/06/2013 15:51

Its nice. Add cheese.

StuntGirl · 28/06/2013 15:52

We have it with any carb we happen to have in, pasta, rice, potatoes, potato wedges. Go wild! Grin

ArtemisKelda · 28/06/2013 15:54

I've made chilli lasagne before now, it was delicious. Sounds reasonable to me.

MortifiedAdams · 28/06/2013 15:55

Ah grand. Due to do a big shop so have barely anything in and just assumed thered be rice as "we always have rice in" Grin

That chilli cottage pie sounds lovely

If anyone says you shouldn't, you should!

I'm off pasta at present, but I'd prefer it to rice and yahboo to anyone who says it's not 'proper'.

diddl · 28/06/2013 16:03

Jacket potato for me!

Funny how we get about certain things "going together" isn't it?

My daughter doesn't like chilli or rice much so the compromise is that she'll eat it with pasta.

Nearly gagged the first time she suggested it-& I wasn't even going to be eating it!BlushGrin

Nice.

anyway chilli and pasta is ds2 FAVOURITE dinner, he hates rice.

Bejeena · 28/06/2013 16:06

We always used to have chilli con carne with pasta when I was growing up, I didn't know it any other way. Always used to have pasta twists though, don't know why!

Mintyy · 28/06/2013 16:07

I would go to the shop for rice but that is purely because I love rice and am a bit meh about pasta.

KatieScarlett2833 · 28/06/2013 16:08

It's the only way i'll eat chilli.
I loathe white rice y'see Smile

hardbeingme · 28/06/2013 16:09

i like to turn into a chilli pasta bake by cooking pasta, cooking chilli mix together, bung in pyrex, put cheese on top (i use cheddar cos i like it basically!) then bake till bubbly.

(disclaimer i like to add cheese wherever possible)
