To think that these gender specific fridge magic magnetic word lists are outrageous?

Apologies if this has already been done. An irate blogger says it probably better than I could here. Seriously, do we really think these are valid educational tools???

OP posts:

What did the Police say? Have they arrested anyone yet? Have the village elders been informed?

fanjobiscuits · 26/06/2013 10:40

I agree with jan - they are hilariously stupid!

theodorakisses · 26/06/2013 10:40

The blogger can't write for toffee and the commenters sound like a bunch of self righteous farts who really don't have very busy lives.

MalcolmTuckersMum · 26/06/2013 10:41

@ theodora. I did kind of think that myself. Obviously the sets are shit. Obviously.
I wouldn't buy them and I don't know anyone that would. My guess is they're made in China where their grasp on our National Curriculum is probably tenuous to say the least. I expect they're available in the pound shop.
What else is there to say about them? Do you think they should be illegal OP?

fanjobiscuits · 26/06/2013 10:43

My favourite word contrast: boys:money girls:fluff. Obviously.b

kelda · 26/06/2013 10:44

' I expect they're available in the pound shop.'

there is no way I would pay a whole pound for one of them!

fanjobiscuits · 26/06/2013 10:44

Or even Obviously.

I have clearly been inhaling too much fluff.

ouryve · 26/06/2013 10:44

They're ridiculous, but I think outrageous is over-egging it, somewhat.

I'm more shocked that boys don't wear clothes. No one ever told me this. I've been doing it wrong for over 9 years.

PeterParkerSays · 26/06/2013 10:45

Cause they're valid, just buy both packs, take them out of the packaging and mix them up before presenting them to DC. They don't look expensive so no problem buying both sets.

but I agree that the girls' words on their own are crap, fluff, shoes etc.

Remotecontrolduck · 26/06/2013 10:45

They're crap I'll give you that, but I doubt anyone's bought them tbh. You can't really do a lot educationally with either set of words.

theodorakisses · 26/06/2013 10:48

I usually cross the road when I meet the parents who think everything at home should be an educational tool. We just watch tv or go sailing and have fun.

katykuns · 26/06/2013 10:50

I thought the point of these sets was to make sentences with it etc... what the hell can you do with these? Just have random words all over your fridge? lol

TheSurgeonsMate · 26/06/2013 10:51

Don't Panic! The Let Toys Be Toys campaign are on it - the picture is doing the rounds on the internet, it is of magnets for sale in Dobbies Garden Centre. Dobbies have told LTBT they'll replace them with something better.

theodorakisses · 26/06/2013 11:17

phew, what a relief, I can sleep tonight.

SodaStreamy · 26/06/2013 11:26

OP , just out of interest what words would you have on the boy's list and the girls list?

Girls list...Thursh, inequality, dishes, moany, emila earhart, purse

boys list...beard, balls, wallet, sweat

fanjobiscuits · 26/06/2013 20:15

They both seem to have the word chocolate. Could this be the only common ground between sexes?
