£7.50 for a cup cake - f**k off!

There seem to be a lot of these "home businesses" starting up recently where people have the idea to sell cupcakes. One of my neighbours put a leaflet through my door at the weekend showing her new cupcake service and she wants to charge £7.50 per cup cake.

Now I don't care how many delicate pieces of lace you put on a cake, you can Fuck off with your £7.50!

They don't even charge that price in trendy overpriced shops in London.

She's deluded, but I expect she'll soon find that out for herself.

Could be money laundering, drug money put through as sales from a cupcake business and advertising leaflets as evidence to make it look legit if anybody official asks questions. But cupcakes priced too high so that you don't actually get any real orders and have to arse about making cupcakes.

I live in a very upmarket, touristy city (this isn't a stealth boast, just a bog standard boast). I regularly go to the farmers market and spend ridiculous amounts of money on "posh" stuff. The small fortune I spent on flavoured coffee was a definite low point.

I've never seen even the most spectacular cupcake make more than £2.50 around here. Your neighbours new business is doomed to failure I fear.

I have paid £3.95 for a cup cake - this was in a posh deli on the fulham road though, and it was, i have to admit the most amazing bit of cake I have ever eaten - three cakes, two coffees and orange juice for DD approx £21 This was for a family treat and it was fab. It wasn't just a cup cake though, it had all manner of marvoulousness in it. There is a shop where i live that sells them for £2, ive had one, wouldn't buy another as yes, they are fairy cakes! Making cup-cakes is old hat now when it comes to home business, people are going to have to ramp it up a bit.

I would never, BTW, pay £7.50 or $7.50 for a cupcake. Just for the record.

I make and sell cupcakes as a hobby and charge max a £1.00 each unless I have a big order. Giant cupcakes cost more than £7.50 to make let alone sell for. I hope its a typo as no one in their right mind will pay that amount for a single standard cupcake.

OK, in my world there's BUNS, FAIRY CAKES (buns with bits gouged out of the top, then jammed back into some buttercream, which look nothing like a fairy of any description, and CUPCAKES - like BUNS but bigger, with an additional 50% by volume of rancid buttercream piped onto the top.

Give me a Betty's Fat Rascal any day!

I always think cupcakes are basically a lump of white bread with a load of sugar and artificial colours on top. I wouldn't pay £7.50 for that. Yuck.
