£7.50 for a cup cake - f**k off!

There seem to be a lot of these "home businesses" starting up recently where people have the idea to sell cupcakes. One of my neighbours put a leaflet through my door at the weekend showing her new cupcake service and she wants to charge £7.50 per cup cake.

Now I don't care how many delicate pieces of lace you put on a cake, you can Fuck off with your £7.50!

Just checked the Waitrose website. They charge just over £1 each if you order 12 very pretty cup cakes. Just by way of a comparison.

Tell your neighbour to put me down for a dozen will you ?

some of my FB friends do this kind of thing and their prices are nonsense. I always wonder if they ever get any actual real business or whether the pretty webpage is about the full extent

Usual price for a single (very nicely iced) cupcake with a filling should be no more than £2.50, £7.50 is insane!!

A fairy cake is what proper people have with a naice cup of tea in this country. A cup cake is a mahoosive American version.

Cupcake: A perfectly formed mini cake, about the size of a small cup (hence the name) with just the right amount of frosting, not icing.

Fairy cake: a perfectly formed flat cake with a small amount of icing, not frosting.

They really are very different if they are done right.

Neither is superior. Just different.

I'm in Crawley and I'd want at least £10 cakes for £7.50. Not one cake. I don't know anyone who'd pay that round here!

I have had enough of the world and his wife setting up cupcake businesses! I agree with Babyheave, they are fairy cakes (sorry Tee) and you could make shitloads for £7.50!

I see a LOT of cupcakes in the course of work. The MOST expensive ones I've ever seen were £3.50 each! The best ones I've tried are £1 each.

Trinity cupcakes are bigger than fairy cakes. Those cake are gorgeous but I wouldn't pay 7.50 for them that's bonkers!

I love a nice cupcake, but then I've always been a big fan of buttercream. I could eat the stuff by itself, so a mountain of it on top of a cake is fine with me I still wouldn't pay £7.50 for one though.

Even posh London cupcake companies only charge £2.50 for a cupcake. Like crumbs and doilies. Mmmm drool.
