Be fair though, if you are close to both people in couple, for years, and one leaves the relationship for a much younger lover, it it easier to blame that younger lover. It is easier to blame someone you don't know that believe that someone you've known and loved for years has done something so awful. Even if we were talking about three men, it would still be natural instinct to blame the interloper.
