I have a friend who's exH has done much the same thing. 50 or thereabouts, taken up with a 30 year old. I was friends with them as a couple so it's just bewildering to see the disintegration if their family.

Be fair though, if you are close to both people in couple, for years, and one leaves the relationship for a much younger lover, it it easier to blame that younger lover. It is easier to blame someone you don't know that believe that someone you've known and loved for years has done something so awful.
