To think companies should be able to offer a morning or afternoon delivery slot?

We've ordered some furniture from homebase which has taken forever to come in.

Now I've been phoned by them and told they only deliver Wednesday and Fridays and the deliver slot is 9am to 6pm! They said they can deliver at any time during this period and if I'm not in then I'll have to come and collect it at the store which would require us hiring a van.

I explained I have school runs to do and other commitments and asked if they could at least give me morning or afternoon and they said it was impossible. I said Wednesdays and Fridays were hard for me but I could possibly arrange to stay in between those hours on the Monday or Tuesday but got told that was not possible?

AIBU to want a shorter delivery slot than 9 hours?

Be thankful if they actually deliver on the right day

YANBU - that's ridiculous. It's not so bad with smaller items that can be redelivered but with furniture they should give you a better idea. It seems pretty common practice though.

Have you asked them if you can call them in the morning and find out where you are on the delivery list? Sometimes they will also agree to call you 30 mins or so before they arrive so you have time to leg it home from wherever you are.

I will ring back and ask them Edwin thanks
