To think all this Nigella stuff is distraction

She s beautiful, she s talented, she s intelligent, she s rich. If it wasn t for her tragedies her life would be perfect, and that makes us feel better about our own lives.
Furthermore, I suspect it isn t a coincidence the story was broken by the SUnday People, and the Sun has had front pagers on it since Monday. This distracts from Mr Murdoch's own marital difficulties. When one has made a mega fortune from intruding on other people s private lives, one doesn't t want the favour returned, now does one?
Let's see how long it is until Mumsnet pulls this thread.

She's really a giant lizard. As are all the people at MNHQ. How long before they delete this thread now?

"She s beautiful, she s talented, she s intelligent, she s rich. If it wasn t for her tragedies her life would be perfect, and that makes us feel better about our own lives"

YABU and completely ignorant.

So, because she's beautiful, talented, intelligent and rich, we shouldn't be concerned that her husband was caught on camera 'apparently' choking her?

FYI - incidences of DA that we've all witnessed from the photos don't start with public throttling/ humiliation. This has more than likely been going on, behind closed doors, either in a physical manner like the photos depict or in an escalation of emotional abuse, leading to physical abuse.

Why not trying to be informed instead of just opinionated, OP?

TheFallenNinja · 20/06/2013 14:04

Wow. You truly are an oxygen thief aren't you.

LeGavrOrf · 20/06/2013 14:04

Look at the mumsnet logo.

It has the shape of the Illuminati.

Flobbadobs · 20/06/2013 14:05

Just reread the OP. are you suggesting that Nigella being widowed and getting throttled by her husband should make us feel better?

Who are you writing this for? I'm calling Journalist of some description here, it smells.

gordyslovesheep · 20/06/2013 14:05

it's proof that jesus was a woman

DarkWinter · 20/06/2013 14:06

The Sunday People isn't a Murdoch paper. Hope that helps.

They're trying, but their giant reptilian claws are making it difficult to hit the right button.

StealthPolarBear · 20/06/2013 14:10

the OP is someone who enjoys telling everyone else how naïve they are. It is fairly common and starts in school iirc.

limitedperiodonly · 20/06/2013 14:11

flobbadobs I know someone who was envious of Nigella getting a fabulous career off the back of her husband's terminal illness.

Fucking weirdo, but they do exist.

Flobbadobs · 20/06/2013 14:12

limited Shock
Am waiting for the OP to return with a theory on how 9/11 was caused by Murdoch/lizards/aliens...

StealthPolarBear · 20/06/2013 14:13

Message to Olivia when she finally turns up: I just looove your claw polish, where did you get it?

gordyslovesheep · 20/06/2013 14:14

gordyslovesheep · 20/06/2013 14:15

maybe the entire MN team are T-Rexing

Tee2072 · 20/06/2013 14:20

Suck up Stealth.

LEMisdisappointed · 20/06/2013 14:21

I'm not in the least bit interested in murdoch's marital affairs, anymore than i am any other two bit celebrity. This really wasn't like that though, i would have been as horrified if that was josephene bloggs getting throttled by some waste of space man. It has had an awful lot of media exposure, yes, and there seems to be thread after thread on here, i should imagine elsewhere. To a degree, the media have pushed it - but you know what, its a good thing - its a good thing because it has opened frank discussion about DV. Its not just beer swilling thugs that abuse their wives, but "nice middle class families" are affected by it too.

As for conspiracy - yawn

StealthPolarBear · 20/06/2013 15:20

I spent a little while wondering who Josephine blogs was Blush
another celeb I've not heard of!

OnIlkelyMoorBahtat · 20/06/2013 15:31

If it wasn't for her tragedies her life would be perfect

If it wasn't for the fact her life was so shit, it would be brilliant.

Great logic there, OP Hmm

captainmummy · 20/06/2013 15:42

Being beautiful, talented, intelligent and rich doesn't really make up for having an abusive mother, a sister who died of breast cancer early, a husband who died of throat cancer, a 2nd husband who abuses her...

Yep, I feel much better about my life.

EldritchCleavage · 20/06/2013 15:55

Why do you have to be so dismissive of what happened to Nigella Lawson in order to debate news bias, slanted media agendas etc (which are all perfectly sensible and important topics)?

She is having an absolutely awful time. But yes, the degree of coverage of her awful time may be affected by editors/proprietors wanting to focus on it to the exclusion of stories that don't fit their priorities. No real way to tell. It is after all a massive sleb story, and newspapers make money off those.

Alisvolatpropiis · 20/06/2013 17:58

Your opinion is utterly bizarre. And stupid. Hth.
