AIBU?
to be a bit freaked out by this blood?
TheOrchardKeeper · 19/06/2013 18:51
Ok, so I'm on the pill, have been for 5 years, period always comes 2 days after I start the 7 day break and I never bleed inbetween.
Only missed one pill this month but i'm on the combined pill and took it with the next one (have done this before and never had an issue).
So on/off today there's been this weird dark red/brown discharge (scuse the TMI) coming away (only when I wipe) and I've had a few cramps this week too that seemed weird.
It shouldn't be breakthrough bleeding as I missed that pill 2 weeks ago.
Would I be OTT to go to the GP and ask what's going on? I've never had a smear so am a bit freaked out.
Also did a test today in case and was a bfn so it can't be that...or not yet at least.
Would appreciate any replies. I am cacking it

I'm 22...was told not to go til I was 25 but am going to ring up and push for one, for peace of mind more than anything else.
It's virtually stopped now anyway and is just a few streaks in the usual stuff iyswim.
I have bled in between before when i've missed a pill but it was very different. I've never bled like that so just want to know what it is really. Have cramping at the back too, which is odd as I only ever get stomach cramps with AF, not back ache/cramps.
I had a scan a few months back for cysts but didn't have anything wrong down there as far as they were concerned.
Bit odd...

I didn't have DC at that point.
Was 22, had repeated Bartholins cysts and abscesses, so requested a full std check and a smear test to see if they could find a reason.
Had the std check (clear!) but was refused the smear based on the fact I was not 25 and smears under 25 often throw up abnormal cells (apparently).
Still never found out why I keep getting them...

That's pants!
I had an unexplained severe pain in my lower tummy a few months back (was in hosp overnight as they thought it was appendicitis) but it just went after a few days and they never found out what caused it). But they did loads of tests and an few internals to see if it was a gynae problem and I was fine.
I'm also STD free (unless my DP has cheated in the last 2 months, which I do doubt)!
I did get pregnant with DS on the pill, but I missed 3 days. I guess that's why I'm worried but I know the chances are seriously slim.
Poor GP. I bet it'll be the same one I always see, who has seen my fanjo about 100x since I had DS (he had a nasty birth and I had a few issues after and am very prone to thrush).

God that's rubbish...
It seems silly considering you can develop cervical caner at any age as an adult (even if the risks are low at that age). I've got 2 and a half years til i'm 25 and am hoping this does not become a regular thing as it's a tad disconcerting...

I might ask to be referred to gynae' if they refuse a smear. I'm very uncomfortable just leaving it to sort itself out. I'm happy to wait a cycle or something but if it happens again I really want to be checked out.
I may mention my mum's issues (she has had bad cervical erosion/a few abnormal smears that ended up needing treatment, though it's not hereditary apparently) to get them to do something. Or keep going until they do it
TheOrchardKeeper · 19/06/2013 19:43
It may just be a one off and not happen again, in which case, yay!
It's just freaked me out as watching my mum have her treatment (she's now having a hysterectomy because it can't be fully treated and keeps coming back) has made me worry about myself. Her problems also started after a nasty birth with my brother. DS was also a nasty birth (big head, small pelvis).

I'm not sure tbh.
I missed one pill and they say it's ok to double up just the once but this weird backachey cramping only happened when I was pregnant with DS, which is probably just a coincidence.
If I am then it should fall within one of those freak occurances, as i've taken it as they say you should on the leaflet etc (even if you miss one).
