Telephone Contact

If you have a fixed line and a mobile telephone, which would you expect prospective employers to try first?
If you were running an employment business, would you expect/train your staff to try the fixed line number before the mobile one (cost-saving)?
Generally do you prefer to take "longer calls" - chats with friends, making important arrangements, confirming appointments etc. on the fixed or the mobile 'phone?

Since I got my iphone (previous phone a simple Nokia) I prefer to take and make all my calls on that because I can then refer to my diary whilst speaking etc. and it means I also have a record of who called when. I hardly use the landline at all now. Dh prefers it, but he hasn't got a smartphone.

My mobile doesn't work well in the house and I don't always carry it/ have it turned on anyway.
Having said that if it was a prospective employer I would be keeping my phone on and by the window where there is a signal if I was waiting to hear about a job as if I'd given both numbers on my CV I'd expect them to try the mobile first as they'd think it more likely to get to me.

My job involves making a lot of phone calls, it all depends on what type of client I am calling as to what phone number I would call.

How much it is costing my employer to make these calls has NEVER entered my head. In fact it has never entered my head in any job.

I have a mobile, I prefer to be contacted on that, as it's generally always with me and I can ignore if I wish/put on silent.

However I will make calls on the landline at home, mainly because my mobile is elsewhere in the house or on charge.

And to answer your first question, I'd expect a prospective employer to try my mobile first.

Perhaps it should be part of a cv or application form.

I prefer my mobile as its always with me and I can jot down info on my phone.

I ring out to business owners. I ring their 'preferred' number ir the one at the tOP of the list

I am unsure I ring landline over mobile, and then try the mobile a bit later if I didnt get through

If ringing individuals I'd ring mobile first. If ringing businesses I'd ring landline first.

If I was running a business where people had to make callouts I'd prefer them to try the landline first, but I'd monitor what actually happens so I could pick an appropriate call-plan.
