...to get really, really hacked off with people who use more than three dots!

It's three dots only...not as many as you want to put.

Please people, use the point of ellipsis correctly! I can't stand all these extra dots.

¤

SupermansBigRedPants · 17/06/2013 23:53

I like 3 dots but i have been known to over exclaim when excited especially on poas threads that get positives.

IneedAyoniNickname · 17/06/2013 23:54

I use multiple ! Because sometimes one isnt enough. On mn/fb/email to a friend I cant see it as being a problem. In formal letters/college assignments I use correct punctuation.

Although I really hate the use of xxxx to replace . So many of my fb friends do it, I think they think it makes them look young and cool. It doesn't!

And apologies for my lack of apostrophes, my phone appears to have boycotted them. :)

toys that is an arsehole

ToysRLuv · 17/06/2013 23:56

Oh, so it is. That's very useful. Grin

Would the correct usage be, as follows?:

You are an ¤ ! (optional additional !!!)

ThisReallyIsNotSPNopeNotAtAll · 17/06/2013 23:57

I'd say so. MNHQ cant delete post either as its not a personal attack to call someone a symbol Grin

ToysRLuv · 17/06/2013 23:58

Good point.

Mimishimi · 18/06/2013 00:15

YANBU .......... it's very annoying!!!! Grin

Nanny0gg · 18/06/2013 00:56

THREE dots is the correct amount of dots to use and just making up your own rules looks stupid
I think you'll find it's the correct number of dots...

Futterby · 18/06/2013 01:05

YANBU about the ellipsis but I do like to use my double exclamation mark to illustrate a point. For example, I was sitting on the bus the other day when a spotty, arrogant swine of a boy walloped me hard on the back of the head with his school bag. He then turned around, looked me in the eye and laughed!!

True story, and I believe I have illustrated how indignant I was at the event by using the double question mark :)

Trumpton · 18/06/2013 01:09

Or even double exclamation mark !! Sorry, couldn't resist . Grin

Futterby · 18/06/2013 01:12

Was that to me? If it was, I don't get it Blush

Trumpton · 18/06/2013 01:16

Sorry it's me being flippant as you had used the words " question marks " whilst actually using exclamation marks. I shouldn't try to be funny in the middle of the night !!!!!!

Futterby · 18/06/2013 01:17

Oh god, ahaha what a numpty Blush I actually typed "question marks" multiple times there and deleted them, one must have slipped through Grin

Futterby · 18/06/2013 01:18

Or multiple, I suppose :P

Trumpton · 18/06/2013 01:29

Glad you are not offended Grin
Now to try to sleep . Zzzzzzz.

Futterby · 18/06/2013 01:31

Haha Grin I think the "z's" (?!) are optional but dear lord you used pointy brackets. I suggest you run and hide, they seem to be almost as bad as .......!! Wink goodnight :p
