AIBU to have started folding towels the Anthea way?

I clicked on a link in the Anthea/Grant thread. I knew it was a mistake as soon as I clicked. I emptied the tumble dryer last night and folded the towels the Anthea way. I couldn't stop myself.

There was a link to folding T shirts beside the towel folding video. I'm so afraid I may weaken and find it again.

DH viewed the towel folding with some bewilderment and wondered if we'd suddenly moved to Stepford. 30 years of slatternly house-wifery blown away in an instant. I hope there is a way back.

Good grief. Towel folding? Really?

Who IS Anthea Turner anyway? Shes been about since dinosaurs roamed but what does she actually DO? Bar folding ruddy towels.

I think you all need to get this book - towel origami :)

I couldn't see the link? I may not be looking properly..

Primrose123 · 17/06/2013 12:49

Amazon, SirCh, it was quite cheap.

Here you go.

chicaguapa · 17/06/2013 12:50

You know there's a book too right? How to be a perfect housewife Wink

OhDearNigel · 17/06/2013 12:50

I don't like the way her folded T shirts sit in the cupboard. They don't look right to me. I'll stick wtih my Benetton folds ;D

SirChenjin · 17/06/2013 12:53

I must confess to putting towels on the bed on the rare occasions we have guests, just so that they know which towel is theirs, and that it's clean (a rarity in this house).

I don't fold hand towels like my bath sheets because they are too small

OhDearNigel · 17/06/2013 12:54

Edwinia, I also fold my fitted sheets using the method you use.

SirChenjin · 17/06/2013 12:54

Oooh, thanks Primrose Smile

BeeMom · 17/06/2013 12:59

I was brought up folding towels the Anthea way (I was the household towel folder by the time I was 4) and worked my first job in retail where I learned to fold t-shirts at 13.

I never knew I was odd until I married, but I am DEFINITELY not the perfect housewife... Hmm

MrsMangoBiscuit · 17/06/2013 13:01

Me too, exactly. Towels neat, check. Rest of the house? Blush

Oh, except the t-shirts, but I don't do them a la Anthea. I fold them so I can file them in the drawers so DH doesn't make a mess of them when he's trying to get dressed first thing.

I should add, we both do the laundry, he puts most of his own away, I'm just a fussy cow about towels and t-shirts and my own clothes! Grin

FreudiansSlipper · 17/06/2013 13:05

i can not believe i just watched that Shock

poor Anthea what is she going to do now

sydlexic · 17/06/2013 13:08

I always fold them that way. I have some in the bathroom that are rolled, when DH did them I asked him to measure them to make sure they were all the same size, and he did.

OnTheNingNangNong · 17/06/2013 13:12

I've folded them like this for years, but it's the one part of my house work I can trust my husband to do a better job than me. Grin

NutcrackerFairy · 17/06/2013 13:15

Okay, yes the towels look nice [just watched the link]

But her all white linen cupboard didn't fill me with awe or envy.

I actually felt sorry for the poor bint.

I think she needs to get a life really [and may do now she's kicked horrid Grant to touch]

Fillyjonk75 · 17/06/2013 13:17

Who IS Anthea Turner anyway? Shes been about since dinosaurs roamed but what does she actually DO? Bar folding ruddy towels.

So she's qualified to be the next Chancellor of the Exchequer I'd say. He folds a mean towel you know.

WhereBeThatBlackbirdTo · 17/06/2013 13:21

Anthea's linen cupboard looks bigger than my son's bedroom

IWillDoItInAMinute · 17/06/2013 14:08

Watched the towel folding and then clicked on how to organize a dresser drawer.

I now know the correct way to fold a thong, yes a thong.

So now every time I fold a thong, I will think of you Sparklingbrook Grin

I have the Sheldon gadget but now I want to know what the Benetton fold is, Nigel

DeskPlanner · 17/06/2013 14:44

Her duvet/pillow case thing is bloody amazing. Loved Perfect Housewife.

Shutupanddrive · 17/06/2013 14:45

I'm going to do all mine like that

GibberTheMonkey · 17/06/2013 14:45

I don't actually know what a Benetton fold is but I think I do it
I hold a T-shirt by the shoulders then sort of flip the rest inwards with my fingers then fold in half.

Trumpton · 17/06/2013 15:03

how to fold and store Tshirts
It means that you can always find the shirt you want . ( I also do my knicker drawer ! )

PoppyAmex · 17/06/2013 15:29

Gibber, do you think that's it?
That's how I fold mine too (when I'm not using the Sheldon gadget).

Nigel come back and explain, please!
