AIBU to have started folding towels the Anthea way?

I clicked on a link in the Anthea/Grant thread. I knew it was a mistake as soon as I clicked. I emptied the tumble dryer last night and folded the towels the Anthea way. I couldn't stop myself.

There was a link to folding T shirts beside the towel folding video. I'm so afraid I may weaken and find it again.

DH viewed the towel folding with some bewilderment and wondered if we'd suddenly moved to Stepford. 30 years of slatternly house-wifery blown away in an instant. I hope there is a way back.

Anthea's method for putting on duvet covers is the best. Regrettably.

I do go through mad moments of domestic goddess ness and fold my towels like that.

I'm not sure where I got the tip but I fold duvet sets then pop them in one of the pillow sets so everything for a bed change is in the one pillow case

SirChenjin · 17/06/2013 11:30

Oh my actual god - it appears that I fold my towels a la Anthea, and didn't even know it Shock. Disclaimer - I am a slatternly midden in all other areas of domesticity.

WafflyVersatile · 17/06/2013 11:34

I've tried the t-shirt folding thing and it's obviously some sort of camera trickery on the video. It does not look like that IRL.

NeverBeenToMe · 17/06/2013 11:38

I daren't click the towel link - I'm already a bit anal fussy about how my towels are folded Shock

RobotElephant · 17/06/2013 11:42

Oh god - I have just clicked on the link - I already do this! (but in a slightly better way)

heh.

I tried her "folding fitted sheets" technique once. i enjoy my life too much to repeat it.

blueberryupsidedown · 17/06/2013 11:55

Please stop me I have now watched her fourth video and I am about to kill myself. I'm off to watch a repeat of 'Compulsive Hoarder' to make me feel better.

GibberTheMonkey · 17/06/2013 11:57

I can fold my t-shirts neatly after working in a shop. We had a gadget but I soon got the knack without

I wouldn't fold while warm though as then you get fold lines which defeats the point of ironing (which I don't do anyway)

GibberTheMonkey · 17/06/2013 12:01

She also has twice the amount of space and I suspect half the amount of people's stuff to juggle

EdwiniasRevenge · 17/06/2013 12:12

I can fold my t shirts like that. Saw a martha stewart link on here many moons ago (think anthea is just a martha copycat). But I don't. ..I hang them.

I periodically sort my airing cupboard and fold towels neatly (but not quite like that)...then I pull them out. Rummage.and throw them back.

Would love to see hoe she folds fitted sheets (even though I am happy with my mehod).

ParadiseChick · 17/06/2013 12:15

What is your folding afitted sheet technique? Mine involves rolling round my hands rapidly.

daisydoodoo · 17/06/2013 12:17

oh dear I already fold my towels the anthea way and t-shirts. I feel the need to leave work go home and mess them all up!

bigkidsdidit · 17/06/2013 12:18

I have the Sheldon folding device :)

EdwiniasRevenge · 17/06/2013 12:20

I fold it in half lengthways.
Then the other way so all the corners are together.

Poke your hand into the point of the corner seam so they are all aligned (I guess I kind of do this as I go along).

As you poke your hand into the corner the elasticated edges will fold over and lay flatish on top of the fkat part of tge sheet.

Then I fold in thirds and put away.

Kind of hard to describe but I essentially assemble it on the corner seam and my hand.

Fillyjonk75 · 17/06/2013 12:21

I watched five minutes of a TV show of hers on How To Be a Housewife or some other such crap, but I have to say I did take on board the towel folding tip! I had never even realised there was more than one way to fold them or that hotels did it differently.

I don't fold towels like that all the time in the drawer under the bed as frankly it doesn't help with the number you can fit in and most of our towels are in use or in the washing basket at any one time. But when my parents or other guests come to stay I fold their towels "hotel style" and put them on the bed.

WafflyVersatile · 17/06/2013 12:34

pretty much what you say edwinia though not necessarily in thirds. I can't picture what I do at that point. Get annoyed probably. And tbh sometimes I just stuff it blindly in the cupboard.

shewhowines · 17/06/2013 12:36

Edwina - That's more or less Antheas technique for fitteds sheets.

I'm more of a paradisechick technique type person aka "rollong round hands rapidly". Grin

MTBMummy · 17/06/2013 12:38

Erm - I hate to admit this, but I've always folded towels that way, it just makes them look neat and they're easier to get out of the cupboard. Blush

Primrose123 · 17/06/2013 12:41

I want the gadget Sheldon from the big bang theory uses for t shirts

I've got one! Blush

SirChenjin · 17/06/2013 12:42

where did you get it Primrose?

EdwiniasRevenge · 17/06/2013 12:44

Theres a link up thread.....I think...

diddl · 17/06/2013 12:46

Do people also fold hand towels that way?

Why do people put towels on beds?
