To ask what should I do?

I bought a bed form dreams around 5 years ago.

It is insured for 10 years as it was expensive.

Under the mattress a wood piece has broken.

Called insurance who said they would send someone to assess the bed.

Letter arrived today because insurance claim REJECTED reason due to excessive soiling. There is only one tea stain on the bed which seeped through the sheets.

Wise mumsnet What should I do? I doubt this stain caused problem. I paid for this insurance can I get my money back?

As the insurance company to explain in more detail what soiling they saw and how it caused the break etc. Go through the complaint procedure.
The insurance are probably hoping that you'll roll over so don't. Chase it up.

If that doesn't work, look up the appropriate ombudsman or regulator, take some photos and compile the evidence. Take the case to them.

My friend has had a very similar problem with Dreams. Her bed broke under her whilst heavily pregnant. Originally told that it was a 'known problem with the knotting of the wood' but then later told that she would not get a new bed due to 'excessive use' or something ridiculous like that. She argued constantly, threatened them with the press, Watchdog etc, staged a sit in at the showroom... Got a new bed! I think you just have to be persistent I'm afraid. Good luck!
