Well, am I? sigh Yes, probably. IABU for starting a thread about Facebook and to criticise the glorious 'art that you can take to the grave', apparently, but I do feel so much better for getting that off my chest, as opposed to tattooed onto it.

I think it's a cultural thing (tattoo judging), that'll either pass as the old guard die off, or intensify if the next generation decide it's not their thing. Old gimmers like me can still remember when 'nice girls' didn't get a tattoo, and old habits/ingrained prejudices die hard. There's still a little part of me that thinks, 'But tattoos are for sailors!' I have judged people simply for having a tattoo (I know, I know - not proud). Now I just judge them if they have crap/tasteless ones.

HMV wouldn't employ tattooed staff? Were they not trying to look a little bit hip? They're not John Lewis ('Never knowingly over-inked') are they?

My wife has a tattoo of The Scream by Munch on her right arm, a classic 40's RaF pin up girl with a spitfire on her left, and a daliesque piece on her back, but nothing pornographic.

I have a sleeve that is based on HR Gieger. Some of his artwork is based on male or female genitalia ( not that any of my sleeve is) Would that make it pornographic?

Definitely NBU. How can you not judge a tattoo - either the person is very impulsive or they've thought about their choice of tattoo. If the tattoo is on a part of the body that's regularly exposed then it's surely intended to be seen and is therefore no more or less worthy of creating an impression on the people who see it than jewellery/clothes/hairstyle/make-up. Except that it's permanent and the person is going on about it on FB.
