...stop sharing meme posts about your tattoos and how I shouldn't judge you for having them.

I'll judge whoever I damn well like, thank you, and at the moment it isn't you. Stop drawing attention to yourself in this manner. (Except for you, person known to me who bangs on about them a lot. I do judge you, because some of yours are hideous and in poor taste.)

Well, am I? sigh Yes, probably. IABU for starting a thread about Facebook and to criticise the glorious 'art that you can take to the grave', apparently, but I do feel so much better for getting that off my chest, as opposed to tattooed onto it.

I think it's a cultural thing (tattoo judging), that'll either pass as the old guard die off, or intensify if the next generation decide it's not their thing. Old gimmers like me can still remember when 'nice girls' didn't get a tattoo, and old habits/ingrained prejudices die hard. There's still a little part of me that thinks, 'But tattoos are for sailors!' I have judged people simply for having a tattoo (I know, I know - not proud). Now I just judge them if they have crap/tasteless ones.

HMV wouldn't employ tattooed staff? Were they not trying to look a little bit hip? They're not John Lewis ('Never knowingly over-inked') are they?

Georgianmum. I am with you on the crap tattoo one but I guess it is just a matter of taste.

If you want a laugh google tattoo fail or tattoo spelling fail. You will cry with laughter. Lol

Dorange · 11/06/2013 21:57

I just found memes taking the piss at people with tattoos on google, not justifying it...

Trills · 11/06/2013 21:58

Make one then

pictish · 11/06/2013 22:03

I think if you're going to get a tattoo done then you should feel free, but then you just have to accept that some people are going to make snap judgements, based on your body art.

Bollocks does anyone have to accept it. They can all fucking do one with their snap decisions, the thicko fuckwits.

And I don't even have any tattoos.

superbadspeller · 11/06/2013 22:07

Memes are shit in general unless batman or kittens are involved Grin i will accept bears on occasion.

Batman kitty rocks.

thecatfromjapan · 11/06/2013 22:13

Starting a meme would be cool, though.

Maybe you need a pic of a hamster with a little gun and its caption is: I am the Meme-killer. You then flash it up below any pix of tattoos + statements about "Judge ye not".

I'm not good at this inventing-memes thing.

Jo178 · 11/06/2013 22:14

nancerama, you weren't at Sherwood Center Parcs were you? We were there and I saw this woman too!

pictish · 11/06/2013 22:21

Seriously, you can't just announce that it is your right to make snap judgements on other people based on your personal dislike of tattoos, like it's their own fault! They do not 'have to accept it'. That's you with the problem right there OP, not them.

Ilovemyself · 11/06/2013 22:22

Jo178. Do describe them. I like a laugh.

Dorange · 11/06/2013 22:23

Funny memes:

First world problems
Overly Attached girlfriend
Ridiculosly Photogenic Guy
Condescending Wonka

pictish · 11/06/2013 22:24

I do like a bit of conescending Wonka. Grin

Dorange · 11/06/2013 22:24

Just saw a meme on google:

nancerama · 11/06/2013 22:31

Jo, I was at Longleat! Is she cloned? Does every Center Parcs have porn leg woman?

pictish · 11/06/2013 22:35

OP I wasn't addressing thicko fuckwits at you per say btw. Sorry if it seems I was.

I meant those that decide on a person's core, owing to something that does no harm. Judging a book by its cover etc.
No one should ever accept being written off on that basis.

pictish · 11/06/2013 22:40

per se even.. Blush Grin

Ilovemyself · 11/06/2013 22:50

Oops. Sorry. Don't describe them. I missed the fact they were porn.

Jo178 · 11/06/2013 23:00

Grin She was even in the toddler pool there! Hot pink bikini, permatan, make up an inch thick...

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 11/06/2013 23:08

Intrigued by porn tattoo. Do you just mean a naked lady?

Ilovemyself · 11/06/2013 23:15

My wife has a tattoo of The Scream by Munch on her right arm, a classic 40's RaF pin up girl with a spitfire on her left, and a daliesque piece on her back, but nothing pornographic.

I have a sleeve that is based on HR Gieger. Some of his artwork is based on male or female genitalia ( not that any of my sleeve is) Would that make it pornographic?

pictish · 11/06/2013 23:15

I also wondered about what a porn tattoo entails.

chocoluvva · 11/06/2013 23:23

Definitely NBU. How can you not judge a tattoo - either the person is very impulsive or they've thought about their choice of tattoo. If the tattoo is on a part of the body that's regularly exposed then it's surely intended to be seen and is therefore no more or less worthy of creating an impression on the people who see it than jewellery/clothes/hairstyle/make-up. Except that it's permanent and the person is going on about it on FB.

Ilovemyself · 11/06/2013 23:27

Chocholovva. Is it acceptable to judge a person because of their hair/jewellery/ make up?

I would so no - it means you are basing that person on a basis of looks only. And whilst it is nowhere near as serious as racism, isn't the principle the same?

Jo178 · 11/06/2013 23:34

I'm trying to find a linky but can't. Hmm If you google porn tattoo, it was similar to the first image that comes up. It was right the way up her leg too... Vile!

Ilovemyself · 11/06/2013 23:36

Jo178. Googled it. Can't believe someone would want that.
