to think the egg thrower on BGT is a selfish and immature?

So I don't watch the show but comments on FB got me intrigued enough to google and then watch the clip.

I'm sure she thinks her prank was hilarious and that Simon Cowell deserved it, but regardless she took the limelight and attention off the people performing their act - which was potentially one of the biggest and most important moments of their life.

For what? ... Nothing.

Aibu to think she is just a selfish and immature woman?

Yea I wondered if it was set up, the two singers did not flinch one bit and when Amanda called the egg thrower a cow I thought that's a bit rash because we didn't know what the protest was about. Amanda would of looked stupid if it was something everyone felt strongly about or if the woman really had a dreadful experience .

FreudiansSlipper · 09/06/2013 10:44

No I think many potential employers will judge her on her talent and may even think i like what you stood up for

Cowell is not respected by many

It was an egg not a firework and yes I am not bothered if some people have eggs thrown at them

Weener · 09/06/2013 10:49

I don't think it was a set up, but the two singers did seem a little bit TOO unfazed by it so who knows. Either way, she looked like a deranged idiot and she should not have overshadowed the boys' performance like that. If it was some sort of protest over lack of pay, what on earth was disrupting their performance and throwing random eggs supposed to do to help her cause?! Silly woman.

FeckOffCup · 09/06/2013 10:51

I think it was a set up too, I said to DH last night it looked like a publicity stunt.

On a side note, how come there were no animal acts this year, every other year has been rife with dancing dogs, this year none, how come?

CartwrightMiss · 09/06/2013 10:55

Really? I think it's a pathetic childish thing to do. I also think your opinion would change if it happened to you.

Do you also think it's ok for people to throw drinks at each other and spit at someone?

No I think many potential employers will judge her on her talent and may even think i like what you stood up for

No I think once you get a reputation, not many people would want to hire you. She's in an industry where she could be replaced in a second.

She's in an industry that forgives a helluva lot when the person involved has exceptional talent. Which she seems to have. Many many talented performers get away with a lot worse because they are so talented. She might not be famous/successful in the usual sense but she does appear to be more than just a jobbing musician.

VivaLeBeaver · 09/06/2013 11:00

She probably had the box of eggs in her violin case.

But yes, a silly thing to do. I felt sorry for the two blokes singing. Though a little part of me wishes she'd done it when Taylor Swift was on. I think Taylor would have whacked her with a guitar.

LadyBeagleEyes · 09/06/2013 11:04

If her talent was that exceptional she'd be a star now, not a jobbing musician, and yes would probably have got away with it.
I think there are many musicians out there with equal talent but without her arrogance.

FreudiansSlipper · 09/06/2013 11:15

Spitting is very different

No I would not like an egg thrown at me. But then I treat people with respect and think about how others feel, would I be upset if say Nigel Farage had an egg thrown at him no I would not

As I said before others may judge her on her talent and actually applaud her for what she has done not many people respect what sc stands for and that is not about talent it is about making money out of people talented or not he is a business man and a ruthless one

CelticPixie · 09/06/2013 11:19

Lady, the girl is a BAFTA nominated composer. Just because you've personally never heard of her doesn't mean that she's not successful, she clearly is. Secondly, there are a LOT of people in the music industry who dislike Simon Cowell and believe that he has caused a lot of damage to it. They will love this and she will have no trouble getting hired in future because of it.

I honestly can't believe how many people are still taken in by this man. He is a classic narc and I saw through him ages ago. None of his programmes are about finding "talent" they are about him and his ego.

bunchamunchycrunchycarrots · 09/06/2013 11:20

I think in the context of what the protest was supposedly about i.e. some of the hard working musicians not getting paid while SC gets more bloated on the back of others' talent, then I'd say there would be plenty within the industry who would applaud her for what she did.

CartwrightMiss · 09/06/2013 11:21

Many many talented performers get away with a lot worse because they are so talented

Such as?

And it's probably not about talent, people would get away with acts like that due to their fame/popularity.

She is pretty much an unknown musician.

I think it is too much of a coincidence that Simon tweeted that he disliked eggs earlier in the week. He is a complete puppeteer, a clever, rich one! It amazes me that people are gullible to his actions. You can guarantee that whenever he is involved there will be some 'scandal'.

FutTheShuckUp · 09/06/2013 11:23

An 'unknown' BAFTA nominated composer?

CartwrightMiss · 09/06/2013 11:23

As I said before others may judge her on her talent and actually applaud her for what she has done not many people respect what sc stands for

It's not the fact of who she targeted though. It is the act itself and how she has portrayed herself as unprofessional and extremely immature.

bunchamunchycrunchycarrots · 09/06/2013 11:24

OK different genres but film - Roman Polanski?

Football - Ryan Giggs? John Terry?

Music - Bill Wyman?

Those are just a few I can think of right now but I'm sure there are plenty other examples.

CartwrightMiss · 09/06/2013 11:25

An 'unknown' BAFTA nominated composer

Pretty much yes.

Eggs can really hurt. One of the staff in my team at work had eggs thrown at him, and he was actually very distressed by the incident. I'm amazed at the number of people who think it's ok because they happen to dislike the target.

LEMisdisappointed · 09/06/2013 11:26

I reckon that Simon shagged her and wasn't returning her calls!!

CartwrightMiss · 09/06/2013 11:26

All well known people though bunch who had the luxury of falling back on their high profile fame.

OP posts:
Sallyingforth · 09/06/2013 11:28

Of course it was planned like everything else on the show. Nothing is left to chance in such a high profile event.

bunchamunchycrunchycarrots · 09/06/2013 11:29

And you know for a fact that this Natalie Holt doesn't have a high profile within her chosen industry? That her talent isn't significant enough to transcend her actions here? And that this incident wouldn't enhance her profile within her industry?

VivaLeBeaver · 09/06/2013 11:40

It reminded me slightly of Jarvis Cocker tackling Jacko at the Brits.

Cocker was applauded for his actions afterwards if I recall correctly....not literally applauded. Everyone was Shock at the time.
