SP, no way! You need to give it a bit of a squeeze to break the suction and then pull it out.

StuntGirl · 08/06/2013 17:59

Mooncup. Nothing like a face mask Grin

AtYourCervix · 08/06/2013 18:00

3 words.

Pelvic

Floor

Exercises.

Do them regularly. Every Single Day. FOREVER.

They don't look pleasant. Not what I expected.

I was asking for a friend purple. I will let her know. Its not like I have such an issue.

Kneedeepindaisies · 08/06/2013 18:03

I'm not sure how I feel about a fanjo funnel.

But yes, nothing like a face mask.Grin

WorraLiberty · 08/06/2013 18:06

If you had to empty it in a public toilet for example, how do you rinse it before putting it back in?

Or do you not need to?

SPsCliffingAllOverMN · 08/06/2013 18:06

Knee Funnel! That's the word. I couldn't think of it.

I expected a crescent shaped cup with a handle Blush

It is named all wrong. Fanjo Funnel is actually more suitable.

Also slightly plunger looking

MinnieBar · 08/06/2013 18:06

They look a bit like this: Wine

But without the base

GibberTheMonkey · 08/06/2013 18:09

I would have appreciated one at 17
I used tampons as pads are icky and a cup with have helped with my horrific period pains
I was a Virgin at 17 too, I can't see that it has much bearing, you fold them to get them in.
I would assume op knows her daughter better than random (imaginary) posters on mn

congresstart · 08/06/2013 18:10

I've had one for a while....it has saved so much money and good for the enviroment.

Some of the pictures on that link are a bit much though! look and see what I mean.

AtYourCervix · 08/06/2013 18:10

Worra - if you need to you can just give it a wipe with loo roll. But thry don't need emptying as often as a tampon needs changing. I just do morning and evening.

WorraLiberty · 08/06/2013 18:11

What I don't understand is, if the OP is so pro mooncup, why hasn't her DD decided to buy herself one?

I mean if she wanted one?

WorraLiberty · 08/06/2013 18:12

Ah I didn't think about wiping with loo roll

I had this mental image of someone scrubbing it in the sink Grin

StillInBigKnickers · 08/06/2013 18:13

They're not for eveyone. I found getting in wasn't nearly as bad as getting it out. Thought I was going to turn myself inside out Shock having mooncup + multiple fingers up my twice-birthed, episiotomied / torn chuff was not fun.

'just release the suction...' yeah - piece of cake Hmm

AtYourCervix · 08/06/2013 18:13

Becsuse she is 17.

She doesn't particularly want to learn to drive but she is. Because it is important and beneficial.

OP posts:
SPsCliffingAllOverMN · 08/06/2013 18:14

So does the blood just collect in it? Just festers there all day?

ApocalypseThen · 08/06/2013 18:16

I think it's no harm to give her the option. If she uses it today, great, if not, she might try it in a few months. Again, if not, no harm done.

WorraLiberty · 08/06/2013 18:16

Yes but I take it you didn't leave a provisional licence and a voucher on her bed for the driving lessons?

I mean you must have had a conversation about how important it is for her to learn. She must have agreed and got on with it.

That's why I'm wondering why you bought her a mooncup if she's not 'on board' with the idea?

Inserting something into her vagina is a far more personal thing than getting a driving licence.

AtYourCervix · 08/06/2013 18:16

Blood. Mucous. Goo.

No festering though.

OP posts:
SPsCliffingAllOverMN · 08/06/2013 18:17

Cant it 'fill up'?

Sorry about questions but I feel like I need to know now Grin

AtYourCervix · 08/06/2013 18:18

Oh yes. We were talking this morning when she asked me to get tampons. So it won't be a nasty shock. If she likes it great. If not, great too.

OP posts:
EMUZ · 08/06/2013 18:19

I wish somebody had bought me one at that age. I can't use tampons for some bizarre reason but I Envy my mooncup

AtYourCervix · 08/06/2013 18:19

Depends how heavy your flow is. i coild probably leave it in for 3 months before i filled it but that would be minging and festery

OP posts:
mrsjay · 08/06/2013 18:20

if she uses it she uses it if not well you tried to convert her you loon Grin I cant stomach the idea of them and I know dds would run screaming but each to their own , but dont be sad if she doesn't want too especially if she is still at school can you imagine her trying to sort herself in a school/college toilet

itsonlysubterfuge · 08/06/2013 18:22

I think it's a lovely thing to buy for your daughter. It's not like you are telling her to do it or forcing her. She isn't actually there inserting the mooncup into her DD for goodness sake. My mother and I discussed using a mooncup when I was 17, even watched a VHS about it together. If she would have bought it for me I would have given it a go. Sometimes mother knows best, but you can't always convince your children, so you have to be subtle, like putting vegetables into tomato sauce.
