I bought a Mooncup years ago. I thought it was brilliant and I offered to get one for each of my daughters.

Neither of them would entertain the idea. Shock

WorraLiberty · 08/06/2013 16:25

It depends on whether she wants one or not?

AtYourCervix · 08/06/2013 16:25

She asked me to buy her tampons.

OP posts:
AtYourCervix · 08/06/2013 16:26

I did get her those too but felt she needed a nudge in the right direction.

WorraLiberty · 08/06/2013 16:27

Then you may have wasted your money

It's not for you to control what your DD inserts into her vagina

CaptainSweatPants · 08/06/2013 16:27

I hope your bathroom carpet isn't pale Wink

WorraLiberty · 08/06/2013 16:28

Ahh that's ok then as long as you bought the tampons

CaptainSweatPants · 08/06/2013 16:29

I'm not sure how easy it would be to insert one for a virgin , if she is one

I had massive problems with tampons at 14, yikes!

Buzzardbird · 08/06/2013 16:30

I agree worra. Not all circumstances for a child at school are the same as for an adult with choices.
let her do what she is comfortable with, plenty of years for 'cupping' later.

AtYourCervix · 08/06/2013 16:30

I have left it in a strategic place on her bed.

I think she'll give it a go.

OP posts:
AtYourCervix · 08/06/2013 16:31

She is 17. Almist a grown up.

OP posts:
Guitargirl · 08/06/2013 16:33

YABU

If my mum had bought me one at 17 I would have thought she was bonkers.

YoniBottsBumgina · 08/06/2013 16:33

Mooncups are pretty big. One of the smaller ones might have been better (assuming she is a teenager and not 30 or something!)

Sorry to piss on your chips Grin Of course if she is a teenager she will probably say something along the lines of "Oh my GOD mother you are so embarrassing!" and start using extra bleached scented frilly gimmicky the most disposable towels in the world just to make her point Wink

chubbymomie2012 · 08/06/2013 16:35

Oh Lord I'm feeling very old!

What's a mooncup?

AtYourCervix · 08/06/2013 16:35

She's at work till 6. I shall report back her reaction.

OP posts:
WorraLiberty · 08/06/2013 16:38

I'm not sure what would horrify me more when I was 17

Finding an unrequested mooncup on my bed

Or my mum telling strangers on the internet whether I'd decided to stick it up me or not.

Who'd be a teenager today? Grin

ubik · 08/06/2013 16:39

It's not for you to control what your DD inserts into her vagina

Now there's a sentence I haven't read before on mumsnet

Grin
tootdelafruit · 08/06/2013 16:41

oh no! I would have hated this at 17. glad you bough tampons aswell. but at 17, doesn't she just buy her own stuff? I know I did as my mum just bough the same stuff she used and I found through trial and error I got on better with other things so bought them myself.

also, I have a mooncup and I hate the bastard. I have actually been in tears of frustration trying to use it as it was all I had in the house and I was late for work and just could not get the thing to stay in. if my mum had bought it for me at 17 I would have felt under pressure to use it and persevere.

WorraLiberty · 08/06/2013 16:42

Believe it or not, it's not a sentence I've ever typed before either Grin

AtYourCervix · 08/06/2013 16:47

She asked me to get supplies as i was working.

There on the shelf were the mooncups.

She's very open and laid back. Unlike DD2 who would scream in horror and never speak to me again.

OP posts:
BridgetBidet · 08/06/2013 16:47

What Worra said. Buying a mooncup, discussing it with strangers on the internet and then promising said strangers a blow by blow of her reaction is going waaaaay out there from embarassing Mum territory into full blown madness.

BackforGood · 08/06/2013 16:50

What Worra said.

SPsCliffingAllOverMN · 08/06/2013 16:51

Errrr god no.

No cup or moon should be placed in the fanjo. If my mum had brought me that back when I stated tampons I'd have thought she was on something Grin

AtYourCervix · 08/06/2013 16:51

You aren't strangers though. You are figments if my imagination.

And it's no more than she would expect from me.

OP posts:
WorraLiberty · 08/06/2013 16:53

Blimey, SP's had many things in her fanjo...including myself/my family/the milkman and his float.

If she wouldn't stick a moon cup in there, it's pretty serious business!
