YANBU I'm only 35, I thought tha would mean too old for spots, too young for wrinkles. But no...

Always had rubbish skin, and still struggle to keep it under control (despite doing everything recommended re skin care routine, drinking water, taking the Pill, having a baby...). Big painful spots, plus smaller rashes of black and whiteheads, particularly on my nose Sad

And wrinkles on my forehead and "laughter lines" that increasingly don't disappear when I stop smiling. Sad

And scars from previous bad spots Sad

e Roche Posay effaclar creams have worked wonders. Effaclar duo and effaclar A I are for active spots and Effaclar K is for keeping them away.

sounds expensive Hmm

YANBU.
Dry skin, open pores, wrinkles and spots. I look lovely.

Dermalogica overnight clearing gel helps with the spots, and glycolic peel helps to improve the look of my skin.

I can't find anything that works on the wrinkles though (scared of and too poor for Botox). :(

squoosh · 07/06/2013 11:17

Roche Posay stuff is mid range price wise, most of their creams are between £10-£20.

I'd recommend anyone with adult acne to have a read of this

www.beautymouth.com/2012/05/acne-cheat-sheet.html

She knows her stuff.

squoosh oh thats not bad there was a lot of poncey face cream words and usually the poncier the words the more expensive the cream is Grin

Some lines or wrinkles are exacerbated by dehydration; choose face creams that rehydrate the skin without making it too oily (and therefore making spots worse).

Latara · 07/06/2013 11:34

Also remember to use a high spf in your skincare products; this will prevent further wrinkles hopefully without adding to the spots.

Latara · 07/06/2013 11:36

As for me i'm getting 'worry lines' - trying to stop frowning is really hard when you are worrying about stuff.

Latara · 07/06/2013 11:42

Sorry one last post - one of my friends suffered from bad acne until her late 20s.

Her GP prescribed her a medication (sorry not sure which it was) that cured the acne and now she is happier and more confident; her skin is much clearer.

It's worth asking a GP if they have any advice; the medication my friend took was quite strong with side effects though but it worked.

Right then.

I am starting on pure fish oil - they look good for nails, hair and joints as well as skin, all of which could do with some help at the moment.

I am gentle cleansing and moisturising every night WITHOUT FAIL.

I am using SPF cream in the morning. I am drinking more water.

I also started using a bit of Bio-oil that someone bought me when I was pregnant - it's never been used but I noticed you can use it on your face so I'm going to try that for a few days but stop if it is over greasy.

It's Be Nice to Your Skin week chez rumbelina and it feels good!

I found that ditching liquid foundation (now use a mineral powder) and the pill helped mine, I am nearly 40 and my skin better than it has been for years. Also only use eye cream daily and a moisturiser every couple of days.

Ah rum, you inspired me. I've been out and bought milk thistle, probiotics, and omegas. And am planning on drinking water and cutting out the crap. I have one more stop left to replace my face and eye cream, then I have whole fixit caboodle.

But first, I'm going to finish this bag of crisps and my last coke. When I'm stressed or tired I always reach for sugar and caffeine. I know it's counter-productive, but I have a shedload going on right now.
