AIBU? From speaking with others, it's starting to feel like I am. I even hate staying at my parents.

No. YANBU. I hate it too Why on earth, as an adult, would you want to stay over in someone elses house? I can't relax. What if you need a poo!!!???

The OP has privacy concerns about this post and so we've agreed to take it down.

Oh no not odd at all! I HATE it. Why would any adult want to be in a strange bed in a strange house without all their things close by? I mean other peoples houses smell different and make weird noises.

LuckyLuckyMe · 05/06/2013 23:21

YANBU. I hate it. DC's don't sleep. Can't relax. Ugh I'd rather drive the 2 hours home.

CruCru · 05/06/2013 23:24

I am quite pregnant which makes it worse. But I hate it usually anyway.

It's a bit odd and a bit neurotic to feel that way, I think.

Do you people never go on holiday?

Do you spend all your time in your own house?

BasilBabyEater · 05/06/2013 23:26

No yanbu

I hate staying at other people's houses.

But if I needed a poo, I'd use their loo. That's the normal place to poo isn't it? Have I missed out on some social etiquette about defecating in other people's houses, is one supposed to do it in the fridge or something?

SPsCliffingAllOverMN · 05/06/2013 23:26

No!

I had a thread about this the other week. I hate it. Other house creep me out on a night. They make strange noises.

I stayed at a friends house who I have known years and I'm comfortable around. I'm fine in the house through the day but the night its creepy. She has a clock that tick tocks all night, pipes that clang and neighbours run up and down the stairs alot.

I prefer my own house as I'm used to the noises

BasilBabyEater · 05/06/2013 23:27

Oh yeah that's a point, holidays are different.

You get nice beds there.

And you can get up and go for breakfast when you like without waiting for your host.

And you don't have to shit in the fridge. Grin

squeakytoy · 05/06/2013 23:27

"What if you need a poo!!!??"

Unless you are staying in a house that doesnt have a toilet, why on earth would that be a problem.

Everyone takes a dump. Even the Queen.

DialMforMummy · 05/06/2013 23:27

Yanbu

CruCru · 05/06/2013 23:30

Holidays are usually okay. Although a couple of years ago I stayed at an expensive B&B which I hated. The beds were four poster but not solid enough so every time we moved in bed the posts would hit the wall. Also we could hear some noisy sex going on downstairs.

EarlGreyTeabag · 05/06/2013 23:31

YANBU. I hate it too. I'm OK with my parents' house or on holiday, but staying with anyone else is stressful. I need to be able to get away & be alone. And I only sleep really well in my own bed.

HeadsDownThumbsUp · 05/06/2013 23:33

Sorry, it just seems quite childish and/or neurotic to me. If I found I was getting edgy about "strange noises" and not "having all my things close by" I'd be thinking seriously about how prescription medication might help me. I'm not being flippant about that. It sounds like anxiety.

MrsKoala · 05/06/2013 23:35

Depends on your reasoning i think. If you are staying at my PILS house which is purposely joyless and uncomfortable, then YANBU. If you just hate staying away from your home because you need to say goodnight to you victorian china doll collection then YABU.

I would need more information really, which one is it?

CruCru · 05/06/2013 23:35

I've always hated it. When I was a kid I dreaded sleepovers.

BabyBasilEater! Shock not the fridge, you loon! The garden.

MalcolmTuckersMum · 05/06/2013 23:38

I suppose if you've never liked it then YANBU but if you won't spend a night or two at a friend's in case you need a Tom tit then that's just plain weird!

YANBU. I don't even like staying in hotels. I stay at my parents as I love to see them but I would rather teleport home to my own bed.
A nice holiday rental or small nice B and B can be OK but nothing is as good as my own, extremely comfortable, bed, in my own home.

CruCru · 05/06/2013 23:38

I like my own bed. Also, I hate waking up somewhere else and not being able to get washed right away. Also I hate that feeling when you want to leave the next morning but think it might be rude so a sleepover uses up the whole next morning.

What's a Tom tit?

OP posts:
SPsCliffingAllOverMN · 05/06/2013 23:39

A Tom Tit Grin

I will stay out but the noises do creep me out. I'm also used to it been just me and toddler so hearing snoring or coughing etc that's isn't him through the night is weird to me

RevoltingPeasant · 05/06/2013 23:40

BasilBaby, even...

I get uncomfy when other people's houses are the wrong temperature ie hotter than 10 degrees. I have windows open all year round and feel weird doing this in other houses.
