To think public transport is appalling?

DH is home half an hour late again today, his train was delayed again, it happened most of last week too and throws our evening bath/bed routine for DC off. I'm sick of it, the amount we pay in travel costs is extortionate and trains are just so unreliable Sad. The bus costs even more and the journey takes 3 times as long..... AIBU to think public transport in the UK is appalling and expensive?

LessMissAbs you must have lived where I live. A town starting with P maybe?

It's a nightmare on those buses. They are regular but take an age to get into the city centre with every single stop being used along the way - some a minutes walk apart.

I can't wait to get a car on the road so i can stop using buses.

I used to live in Japan and the public transport was amazing

I read once that in one year the average (yes average) delay on bullet trains across the whole Japanese network for the whole year was .... 6 seconds.

6 seconds. Shock

I think they should be investing more in local transport rather than building the new London-BIrm rail link.

Depends where you live to an extent. Where I am public transport is expensive and we don't have any buses on Sundays and evenings.

Transport near me is amazing, super easy to get around london day or night.

YANBU, it's appalling down south. I know people who commute into London with Greater Anglia and there are delays on the commuter trains every single day without fail. You're lucky to go a week without cancellations, and the fares are extortionate.

Every time I go to/from London at commuter times I allow for delays of at least an hour.
