To be jealous of my younger sister's boobs

Younger sis and I are both in our 20s, no kids yet.

Younger sis got her boobs measured again the other day. Every time she gets measured, she seems to get bigger. She is now a 30DD/E.

I have been a 32B for the last 10 years (I do get measured every couple of years in hope I will have got bigger), and doubt I will get any bigger, at least until I have kids. I don't really want plastic surgery and I already wear padded bras.

To top it all off, she is also an inch taller than me.

AIBU to be jealous of her. (I probably am, as she has a higher risk of back problems etc)

I remember going to get fitted for a maternity bra and the shop assistant went really red when she told me that she didn't have any in my small size Grin

She was more embarrassed than me. I still think it was stupid that a very popular maternity shop did not do bras under a B cup.

I am not flat at all, so maybe I am a B cup. I should measure myself I guess.

MadBusLady · 01/06/2013 12:20

Use the bra thread guidelines Samu. You would have to be almost flat to be an A, so you probably aren't.

Umlauf, I sorry you had a shit time as a teenager. As grown ups we all have a responsibility to be accepting of other people's bodies. I don't want girls growing up now to think their bodies are more important than their minds, achievements and behaviour.

Well, I did find a Rigby & Peller in Westfield White City, and I did get myself "measured" (by sight, not with a measuring tape)

They said I am a 30B/C which is almost the same as what I was before (32B). They also no longer sell B cup bras. A couple of the C cups fitted ok.

So I'm still feeling a bit depressed and jealous, as I'm apparently too small to wear most nice good quality well fitted bras (not that I could afford to buy them anyway!)

Its so frustrating. If all the excess fat from my bum and thighs magically migrated overnight to my boobs, I'd probably be at least a DD cup!

To be honest, a 30DD isn't a very big bra size. I'm a 28G and I do not have what anyone would describe as large boobs. They're really quite small. As the MN bra experts will tell you, the cup size alone means very little.

ArbitraryUsername · 01/06/2013 12:34

And, as others have said, it's best to embrace the positives of smaller boobs. And there are plenty of positives.

My chest was much larger when pregnant and breastfeeding, and I am much happier now they've shrunk.

frogspoon · 01/06/2013 12:39

ArbritaryUsername, I know you are trying to help, but by telling me that a G cup is really quite small, what do you think about my B/C cup then? Non existent?

That's annoying Frogs given that they have them online. I'd be inclined to try more of the 30Cs as even going down a back and up a cup can make a big difference to appearance. At a C cup you will have a lovely selection of lingerie available to you - just peachy, lepel, chantelle...

frogspoon · 01/06/2013 12:41

Statistically, they technically do have a couple of B cup bras, but they are being discontinued (due to lack of demand I would assume) and the only ones for sale are those left in stock until they run out.

To be fair I didn't have very long in R&P as it was the last shop I visited, and it was getting late and I needed to get home. I probably could have spent longer and found more fitting bras.

They did write down the name of the 30C bra that did fit comfortably for me, but I can't afford to buy it at the moment.

No. I'm saying that your cup size doesn't matter frogs. If we stood side by side people would probably struggle to notice any great difference between our breasts. No one is going to put me in the 'ample breasted' category (bloody M&S are always trying to get me in to a 32C for example, which really does not fit).

In which case, the best thing is to try to see the many positives of having smaller breasts. Many women who are internationally regarded as incredibly beautiful have very small breasts.

I am confident that you look absolutely great no matter what the letter on the label inside your bra says.

ArbitraryUsername · 01/06/2013 14:04

Oh, and a 28G is not the same size cup as a 30G or a 40G. Someone wearing a 40G will have much, much bigger breasts than me.

Lweji · 01/06/2013 16:28

How old are you OP?

I used to be something A or B, around the 32 - wrong fitting probably.
Went up 2 or 3 cup sizes for pregnancy and another when breastfeeding.
They have gone smaller, but last measuring this year was 40 DD/E and now firmly E, as they have grown since stopping the pill - or just reshaping in correct bra.

I have been ok with smaller boobs and quite amused now at their larger (but still proportional) size.
Just annoyed at the lack of brands that stock my size - at smaller sizes it was cheaper- and how much they cost.
But having a quiet laugh at shop assistants who try to sell their misffiting bras.

Just make the best of what you have, there are alway advantages and disadvantages for every size and shape.

Except body hair. Grr

Lweji · 01/06/2013 16:29

Ups, sorry, not 40, 30DD/E
