To think Shaun of the Dead is actually a bit scary

Just thought I'd create a Zombie thread to join all the others that keep popping up lately...

And yes I do get nightmares even when it's a spoof horror like Shaun of the Dead and Final Destination, stupid huh?

It's quite gory but I've watched that film about 50 times.
It's so funny.

samandi · 31/05/2013 00:03

Hm, well it does have a few moments that make you jump ... but I think it's more funny than scary, and I say that as someone who hates horror films.

zippey · 31/05/2013 00:08

The beauty of that film is that its scary, funny and at times (eg when his mother dies) very sad.

VerySmallSqueak · 31/05/2013 00:09

It's just the teeniest bit scary.

But very funny, and it wouldn't give me nightmares like 28 weeks later did.

ll31 · 31/05/2013 00:10

Love it, v funny

CremeEggThief · 31/05/2013 00:12

YABU! Even a wimp like me wasn't scared by "Shaun of the Dead"!

susiedaisy · 31/05/2013 00:13

Yep Shaun of the dead is scary in places but so funny I love it!

Scary bits for me are when Shaun discovers his flat mate in the shower

When they try to get into the Winchester pub and the other blokes phone rings (can't remember his name) and the zombies all stop and turn around to look at them

When Shaun's mother comes. Back to life and growls at the one who's got the gun

I could go on to be honest but its a fab film Grin

susiedaisy · 31/05/2013 00:15

However 28 weeks later scared the absolute shit out of me for weeks, I was jumpy for ages after I'd seen it, and the whole concept of everyone being infected and relentlessly chasing you really disturbed meConfused

MrsTerryPratchett · 31/05/2013 00:18

I hate horror and didn't get scared by SOTD. I bloody love it.

I love it. I too thought more funny than scary so let 13 yr old watch it.

He didn't make it to the end. The dragging through the pub window scene scared him too much.

SquinkiesRule · 31/05/2013 00:52

Loved it, me and teens watched it on a long haul flight the first time. We kept getting looks, we were the only ones laughing it turns out.
Zombieland is really funny. I hate horror films, I was scared for ages after watching things like friday 13th

foolmouse · 31/05/2013 07:20

I can't see it as scary at all knowing its A) a spoof and B) Simon Pegg and Nick Frost. Just doesn't work, it's a funny film.

Then again the only film that ever gave me nightmares was Gangs Of New York. Twas Daniel Day Lewis, he freaked me out in it Grin.

susiedaisy · 31/05/2013 12:05

Zombieland is fab as well!Smile
