to find Mel C's voice makes my teeth itch - I can't be the only one, can I?

I don't know if it's her or just her voice/accent but I find her seriously disingenuous.

She's the voice over for a Colgate advert and I honestly can't listen to it. This is really unlike me! Apart from the blowing on soup advert, I've never had to turn over the fecking telly to get away from something.

Her whole voice is so affected.

I know, if this is the only thing I have to worry about blah blah blah but I'm just throwing it out there - am I being overly sensitive to this woman's voice?!

YANBU. I'm sure she's very nice but I can't bear her talking or singing voice.

Is she Sporty or Scary?

I don't like Janet Street-Porters voice. It's not the accent it's the tone and timbre.

How she got the rep of being 'the Spice Girl that could sing' I don't know...always sounded like a strangulated cat to me.

She does seem nice though

She seems lovely but her voice sounds so...fake? Singing don't mind so much but speaking... Gah! Sounds like shes doing a "fluffy wuffy bunny" sort of voice!

It does sound like she's doing a massive, cheek creasing fakesmile when she's voice-overing that ad.

Yup, when I read your first line, the word I instantly thought of was "affected". She sounds like she's putting on a voice in an effort to sound feminine. I don't mind her singing voice.

Yabu. I MUCH prefer her to any of:

Victoria Beckham
Geri Halliwell
Scary Mel B
And even Baby Emma is just a bit too nice.

Mel C is definitely the best Spice Girl. (imo)

What Cherries said! I find her singing voice very nasal and whiny. I have to turn the radio off if I ever have the misfortune to hear that dreadful duet she did with Bryan Adams. Can't comment on her speaking voice as I've not heard it but I think I might be prejudiced against it already.

Mel C isnt a great singer, she was just the best of a bad bunch.

I have to agree about JSP - her nasal tones are enough to drive anyone to drink.

Oh god I thought it was just me. I can just about bear her singing voice, it's her talking voice that makes me want to scream. I have to turn over when I hear her which is thankfully not often these days, she just seems so false and she has an overly sincere manner when she talks.
There are very few people I have an irrational dislike of but she is definitely one.

I don't have much of an opinion on the Spice Girls as seperate entities really.

YANBU. She was the only one of the Spice Girls I could have imagined myself going out for a drink with bit her voice is awful. One of those voices which suggests the owner of the voice thinks the voice is better than it actually is.

I don't mind it. It's Jessie J's speaking voice that really makes me cringe.

YANBU, I've always found her voice somewhat shrill, although I agree with others that she seems a nice, level-headed person.

Yanbu. I have never understood why her voice is considered good. It has a very harsh tone.
